About us,

We are a family from the North-East of England following our dream to restore a beautiful abandoned french Château. We discovered the heart stopping Château De Lalacelle in summer of 2020, this beautiful architectural monument Is set in the countryside of North-West France.

The moment we visited the Château we all fell in love, from the beautiful sweeping landscape and forests, to its stunning untouched interiors and magnificent spiral staircase in the turret.

Unfortunately Château De Lalacelle has been abandoned for a number of decades so will need a lot of restoration and DIY.

Please subscribe and follow our families journey, with the up’s and down’s in moving from the UK and Escape to rural France to restore this beautiful building to its former glory.

  1. A change is as good as a rest! Always fun starting a new project and Ash will be able to flex his muscles again. Great idea that Paula and Peter will have a reward for all their efforts. PS that earth you shovelled away would be good on the compost heap!

  2. I'm so excited for Paula and Pete that you're doing this for them, they are true troopers, always there helping so much, they are quiet achievers and for them to have their own place at the Chateau is just marvellous. i, like many others, am really looking forward to following you with this project xxx

  3. I love the start of this new project! I am so happy for Paula and Pete! It's also great to see Graham back! What a wonderful family you all are! I am so excited to come along for this next adventure with the Dream team!

  4. The way the planning works in France is that to change a building from agricole to habitation you need a "permis de construire". If your property (whole property) has a larger surface area than 150m2 this "demande de permis" HAS to be submitted by an architect via your local Marie who will give you a response within 2 months. Once it has been accepted you'll be expected to upgrade your taxe fonciere details to accommodate the new details, this is sometimes done automatically if you submit a completion date for your project. Without doing any of this you're breaking the law and could be forced to remove any upgrades you make and be liable to a hefty fine. It's a shame none of the chateau vlogs talk about the reality of planning applications. You should share your planning application process with your viewers as it would be really interesting.

  5. Sorry but newbies have no idea about family dynamics. Who are Paula, Pete and Graham? So interesting to see what you are going to do with this building x

  6. People would buy those metal hay racks and metal water water troughs. Especially being from the Chateau used for the horse stables. Y'all are a well oiled machine for cleaning up spaces and renovation. Love seeing everything you share.

  7. Patrick starting on the foundations of a new build! I wonder what it will be? A doggie house for himself? It’s only fair…😂

  8. How cooooool!! Loving the fact you are rescuing another building on the estate and best of all it means Paula can spend more time painting stuff… like the canopies 😅

  9. It will be nice for family to have a place of their own when they come out to visit even after all the renovation is done. I am guessing after this you will start the chalet or other rooms in the chateau. Those tiles once cleaned up will make nice flooring. I think you have other doors in stock to use if those on site don't work out. I think the shutters will be the hardest thing to recover. Maybe some windows in the roof would be nice as well. Digging for plumbing and such won't be fun but at least Patrick has given you a start 😉

  10. Poor Patrick is getting confused he thinks it hole digging time, didnt you give him the day`s work sheet to carry on with.

  11. Paula & Pete so happy for you both look forward to seeing the transformation congratulations 🤗💐🤗 🍷 🍾🍷
    Love Sue ❤❤❤🇬🇧❤❤❤

  12. Looking forward to you starting your new passion project for Paula, now that you have it all cleaned out have you started to draw a plan on how things will look, if so i and the rest of your subscriber`s would love to see them so we can visualize.how it will look. Very exciting.

  13. Oh this is exciting, you all looked so eager to get at it too, Hammers Out ROFL. Are you allowed to put in a fireplace/woodburning stove?

  14. All those troughs and hay holders would make super cute flower holders in the guest camping area someday! Touches of the chateau in the guest views. 🙂

  15. Great project! So fun to see you all together and laughing. Going to be alot of hard work but so worth it.

  16. Ihr seid immer wieder gut für eine Überraschung. Und die künftigen Bewohner haben anscheinend gleich mit angefangen beim Bauen bzw. erstmal ausräumen ?
