Leigh and Anthony take you this week to France, where the country has found a way to take leaps and bounds forward in basketball, driven by talents like Victor Wembanyama and Zaccarie Risacher, the top picks in the last two NBA drafts.
Leigh spoke to David Griffin about all this and more, and also was able to find out who Griff considers the most underrated player of all time.
The guys also look back on one of France’s most popular players ever, Boris Diaw.

France has great success in several global team sports : Bball, Football, Rugby, Volleyball, Handball. We're so-so or crap at most of the others ^^
Argentina, Brazil and France are massive talent providers in many team sports they are passionate about indeed.
First, indeed France has notoriously clean water 😀 But it's mostly the attention to youth coaching and passion for flair that has brought daylight on our "production". And from the late 90s, with France winning football world cup in 98 bringing a lot of condifence in the country and fans when France was considered, especially by ourselves, as a "lot of talent / glorious losers" sort of sport country, a lot of emphasis has been put on professionalism and mental prep. And overall, we're quite good people to mingle with ^^
No no, Thierry Henry played in many games during Football WC 98 , was France top scorer (only 3 goals) but not in the final though because Marcel Dessailly was sent off early in second half and France wanted to plant the bus on front of the goal and contain all the great brazilian guys 😀
OF COURSE Bobo did dunk, come on now lads ! I believe he actually won a dunk contest (well at like 18 yrs in France) 🙂 Boris was fantastic versus Lebron because besides quickness, Boris was EXPOSING the fact that Bron is/was not that skilled and once confronted on the physical side, his meh jumper would be his only way out of Boris ^^. FACT
Forgot to mention : Good stuff guys, enjoyable content , Aussie accent is always cool ahah
The school loved how international the group was. They couldn’t say no!
10 grown men walking through a school to get to a basketball court was a pretty weird experience but we made it happen!
Thanks for making the trip out Leigh!

To explain the French success in sport you have to understand the sociology of Paris area.
That represent 1/3 of the French people in a area of 30-40 km in diameter.
Furthermore, the suburb of Paris is full of young « poor » people but have many sports teams.
So if you are a young talent you will meet very quickly other young talents.
The competition is very high at very young age.
Then, the most talented move to other area ( if you check how many french young soccer player in all the best Club in Europe, it’s crazy).
I think that you don’t know if.
But after retiring Diaw, made the whole world trip on sailboat.
Then he participates and win La coupe des Landes, which is a basketball championship in the south west of France. You can compare it to the Oregon championship with no professional team.
This guy enjoy his life!
Mark Jackson was the first one to use the floater on a frequent basis
Soooo why aren’t you on no dunks?!
