I dive into the reasons why I made the move from France to Singapore and why it’s been one of the best decisions of my life. Although France is often seen as a dream destination, I found that Singapore better aligns with my lifestyle and aspirations.
I explore how living in Singapore has allowed me to embrace my personal habits more fully, from enjoying a vibrant food scene without the pressure of cooking daily, to benefiting from an efficient public transport system that eliminates the need for a car. The warm, sunny weather year-round is another major plus for me, especially after dealing with long, cold winters in France.
Professionally, Singapore offers dynamic opportunities in the tech industry, which was a major factor in my decision to move here. I share my experiences working in a fast-paced, multicultural environment that has broadened my perspectives and enhanced my creativity. This aspect of my life in Singapore contrasts with the more linear professional experience I had in France.
Beyond work, the move to Singapore has been an adventure in itself, providing me with new life experiences and fresh perspectives. Living in a new country has pushed me out of my comfort zone and allowed me to grow both personally and professionally. I also touch on the ease of integrating into Singaporean life, thanks to a supportive expat community and the familiarity of certain cultural aspects.
While France remains dear to my heart and a wonderful place to visit, Singapore has become my home. In this video, I reflect on the importance of finding a place that truly fits your lifestyle and encourages growth. If you’re contemplating a similar move or just curious about my journey, I hope this video offers some valuable insights.

Hi Amandine,
Happy to know that you enjoy staying here we welcome you.
How was your English in the beginning? I know most French people's English isn't that great, so was there a big language barrier?
💪
You wouldn't be lonely, 'cos there is a French community here. (There is a lot of foreign community here in Singapore. You should be able to find it online.) Welcome to Singapore.
Appreciate your perspective. Thank you for the positive and open comments. Sometimes too many of us have negative things to say about Singapore. Yes, everything in personal and based on preferences. But instead of spreading negativity, it is refreshing and pleasant to hear someone say, this suits her!
Welcome to Sg & great to see u making here your home. Yes, life can be simple, convenient, and enjoyable as long as u can adapt to the heat & humidity.
Fun fact that most Singaporeans don't know: the old-school Ayam brand of canned food was founded here by a Frenchman in colonial times
Nice video Amandine. As someone who stayed in Paris for a while and now in SG, what I miss is the authentic Baguette. Do you get that in any place in SG? You mentioned in your video that you get good French food as well here. Any recommendations?
Bonjour. Comment ça va?
Look for a local buddy/guide/mentor to help you navigate through in the beginning years of SG so that you maximize your enjoyment and minimize the stress! Welcome to SG and I'm certain you'll fit in nicely! Au revoir!
Food is certainly your main consideration. Mentioned quite a few times. SG is pretty developed and advanced.
Are you working for a local company?
The way you pronounced Singapore is so Singaporean. Must be influenced by your Singapore friends.
Welcome to Singapore. 😊
I think its the best move ever! I live in Sweden and grow up there… and move to Singapore was my best thing ever… and France to Singapore is huge upgrade… especially the crimes in France is quite similar to Sweden I would say…
Singapore is real freedom, while Sweden I always have to be alert when I passing by group of people or places that is darker… And same in France when I was there on holiday..
