The French are NOT glued to their cell phones. The French are wearing sneakers. And, French wine tastes even better when you drink it in France. Lisë is back from her French vacation and has a few pithy (?) observations.
[Music] hello and welcoming me back to ladies who question I’m back I’m back I’m back welcome back to the USA oh and let me tell you it feels so good oh I mean loved France loved everything about Paris and provance where we were but I’m telling you it there’s nothing like coming back home oh you know I mean it was a wonderful trip it was perfect it was great everything everything was perfect and believe it or not our flights were not only on time but early no not early not early but zero turbulence Oh either way and and which was great for me because best well yeah especially going over the ocean well that part freaks me out well I mean you know how nervous I was before Oh that’s right you’re a nervous smelly flyer now I am now I wasn’t I wasn’t years ago but now I am like so I was convinced well either I’m going to die on the way there or I have a great time they die on the way back I you know from the flight you know and it was it couldn’t have been better oh God and everything about the vacation was honestly almost perfect okay well let’s get started yeah so you uh landed in Paris landed in Paris and uh we were there for two nights okay uh the my college friends who I traveled with they are real big Shoppers oh like designer handbags uhhuh okay and they were looking for bargains too and they found both they found some really nice things so the first day or two of the trip they’re out oh yeah buying big bags of handbags yeah a uh I don’t know Lou Vuitton chan oh yeah shebang Brands I hadn’t even heard of but if I was a regular reader of Vogue magazine or something like that I probably would know those Brands but since I’m not a fashionista the way that I probably would like to be I didn’t know but they bought beautiful things and um I mostly checked out all the pastry shops and I got the pomier that I like and the quason that are like as big as your head for like my mouth is watering oh yeah you I’m not kidding I I couldn’t believe how little we were paying even in Paris yeah for beautiful desserts and these ornate pastries I know and the chocolates oh yeah yeah okay it scary so did you see Emily no no but you know what Emily and Paris were we were looking for the building the one you know where she comes out of her building and that cute Courtyard yes and everywhere we walked we like no that’s on it and that’s on it and then we were trying to find the building where she worked yeah and we couldn’t find that either and then we were thought which which restaurant Front is the one where she goes to see who’s that the cute Chef like her boyfriend or whatever is I don’t know what’s going on in season 3 but we’re just having fun with that you know but I don’t think we really saw the ones but we did have a fabulous time we saw some stuff that was already being set up for the Olympics I was going to ask you that yeah um cuz there’s going to be a break dancing that’s an Olympic sport oh yeah I had no idea yeah and then one other one that’ll be a fun one to watch yeah I it’s like I’m going Olympic sport that doesn’t seem it seems like a stretch but whatever and there was one other event that we saw these bleachers set up for near um Muse de lerie um excuse me and and it was on the way and I’m trying to think what the but there were all these bleachers set up you’ll see when it comes to TV time you’ll see oh that’s exciting yeah it was really it was nice it was nice did you see any sites in Paris or was it just shopping and then on to the next yeah I mean I’ve been to Paris before and I spent like 5 days just walking walking walking looking we didn’t really do that we found some fun re restaurants some rooftop restaurants and um that was kind of cool but we didn’t really I mean we all of us had been to the lou um been to Mose D so we didn’t do that what’s Mose d That’s most that’s impressionist Muse D it’s impressionist paintings and so we’d already both we we’d all done that okay so we didn’t do those things and they were mostly just on a mission in Paris for the shopping okay and but we did go to the Muse de uh which had some Modern mixed with some old I forget who it was it was it was the water lies which might have been oh yeah yeah but it was huge it was like two different rooms of four panels on each long wall I is um I think those are Mones are they Mones okay well maybe well yeah I’m pretty sure they are but there were it was huge what was morning midday afternoon and evening yeah and it was oh cool you mean what they would look like with the sun uhhuh oh my gosh with the light so it was that was pretty spectacular so we did that every day was 70 71 degrees either clear or these beautiful a little bit of Cl puffy cumulous clouds and the perfect amount of humidity like low you know the only time there was even a little bit of rain was when we were in the train coming back from X of pro to uh just outside of Paris for our last night that’s it and we were on the train didn’t matter I know the weather gods were with you on that oh yeah okay so then we went to a we took the train where we picked up our car that’s it in Aon we went to this 14th century walled we stayed actually within that on at this in this beautiful hotel that was part of this Pope’s Castle you know Pope’s Fortress whatever and where’s aan Avan is about 2 and 1 half hourss south of southeast of Paris okay and you took the train or you drove we took the train to avenon but we picked up our car and then we drove used our car to drive to where we were going with our to our hotel with which was within this wall sh that’s it’s not a chateau it was a walled castle and Pope’s Castle you know and our hotel was had been part of that whole Pope thing you know P Davon you know was there the Aon Bridge we f out from there we went to ARL where we saw a bunch of ruins and um H bread oh there you go we ate bread all the time what were we just going to say well it’s it’s going back to Paris um Notre oh oh we we didn’t get up close because we have it was it’s not done I was going to ask about that it’s not done and there there’re still scaffolding so they still have uh the middle part to do okay interior and exterior didn’t go we didn’t get that close because we just kind of went oh that’s sad and there were so many people around it it yeah cuz we went at the wrong time of day it was like midday and so people already we just went oh it’s not done let’s just wait next trip right next trip and we’d seen it all of us before it burned so yeah but but we went to this market and Everywhere You Go bags of lavender and you know and it’s not even lavender season for the year that they blooms in July so we were there prior but all this lavender and all these products and stuff are from last year it was it was wonderful and it just that that was why I wanted to go was for the lavender and beautiful produce at the markets like um the wines were incredible the desserts were incredible yeah wow and um and the wines don’t give you hangover no they’re all just so pure no they did not and you and they’re H and that was was crazy and and also when I was there I didn’t have one hint of an allergy at all I know I wasn’t here for more than back home for more than 4 hours and suddenly I’m going oh my eyes are itching oh I’m and I started sniffling again I went oh damn it I’d forgotten how good it felt how pure the air is yeah wow and they just don’t have the same allergens I guess as as we do so I know but it felt pretty damn good we went to this cave cave show it’s an Old Quarry but it’s kind of feels like a cave and you go down you go into it and we had hoped to see the van go like like an immersive experience I mean it’s tall it’s like story is high okay but it was an it was about Egyptians which didn’t really grab my attention I mean if if you’re into egyptology or whatever you’d love it oh appol Spritz you ever heard of that yes I have do you like it they’re just light and delightful I know well we did that was mostly until we got to really the serious wine you know part when we were in in a little bit further south we went on our wine days we were just sucking those down um then we went to Sam REM Remy and we’ve I shook hands with them this very famous chocolate here Joel dur he was just leaving for the day and he’s like famed chocolate here and I and he’s he’s Le go are you are you are you Joel Jon were you speaking French oh oh oh I want to know that okay that’s the freakiest thing okay about the whole trip okay I can’t remember a lot of obviously just recent memory cuz I’m trying to recount you’re just trying to catch up on your sleep well or you know short your memory is not that great right now or ever anymore but no sooner are we off the damn plane than I get pressed into service and I was supposed to have been like learning from Babel or dual lingo or one of those and I didn’t I didn’t do any of it okay I’m pressed into service they’re like what are they saying I went no and I so I’m listening real hard so finally I start just asking questions but I had it this stuff emerged from the recesses of my high school brain from French you know French class yeah and from conversations with my grandpa Dominique all the words that I needed were coming up I Holly I don’t even know how to tell you how freaky it was that is like Rainman it it was it was like I was freaking myself out after about 5 days yeah I was starting to think in French and that’s when you know it’s starting to integrate I know and and they would talk to me and I would start to answer them in French and I would like wait my my friends and I went God what is going on here they must have got a kick out of that well just kind of going what’s going on here but they were very grateful okay and it really helped us with our trip good because there were some people who either didn’t want you know Americans you know where I’m going with that um they were playing you know and I was just very polite and then I’d make an effort and they go oh okay and they would start to you know communicate then we we had a couple guided tours one was um of luberon area have you ever been to there that okay all these beautiful little Villages and in provance oh well we were in provance after we left Paris that’s where we were just in provance yeah we we explored provance and so we went to all these little Villages within luberon and um just beautiful little Hilltop Villages and little you know chat that were made into something else oh yeah well some of them yeah some are kind of in Ruins you know but it was interesting to see those too but um the little Villages were so with these cobblestones and very narrow and we were driving a Jeep we got they gave us a Jeep I know and and that’s huge for those tiny little well yeah you’re going to hit a building it was a little problematic at some you know we were just like let’s just par here and go and walk yeah did you go to any wineries okay so we have a guided tour it’s all day thing dangerous I know and and the the worst part is I can only remember okay the first one we went to was wonderful I can’t remember the name for the life of me our driver was also our tour guide and he was he was country French through and through oh in in every possible way and but it was great then we went to a second one with him then and and that was H Lett not not L pent anyway that was fabulous and she um had wine from five different places but it was a winery but the five different I don’t know I I don’t remember what that was was then we went to this Hilltop Restaurant wow we were overlooking it was it was for me the best moment of the whole trip oh overlooking all these beautiful patches of farms and in Wineries and it was an actual Winery itself and we’re looking into the alpal mountains over here to our South and then we’re looking at the um I forget what they’re called V vote vot whatever they are I don’t know anyway the others and then we went to after this fabulous lunch 35 bucks three courses wow yeah for this Gourmet how could they preix do that I don’t know it it was unbelievable then we went to the crowning Glory you’ve heard a shat to pop wine right no I haven’t well you need to you also need to put out the money for it that is the crowning Glory really of um French red wine they had wonderful white wine as well but they are known chatron of DP is it God I’ve never heard of it shat d d the rock star of wine and and we were there and we were there for a long time and we got a tour of the sellers and we get to see all these a we got to hear a lot of history about how when the ger took over everything and they just basically trashed stuff and they took over places in during the world wars and a lot of the history about how there was this one area where they or or the French knew they were coming so they built a wall and so all these fabulous wines after the war was over they found a a blueprint or something the people who came back in to restore it uhhuh and they went oh my gosh there’s something behind here and they find all these aged red wines which only made them even more wonderful and so we walked through and we saw these I mean they’re really old I’m pretty sure after that we drove to uh chantilli where we stayed at this place called o in this estate of this guy from the 1700s who because he never had an air and in the history behind this place this um con U Muse K that where all these artworks are that don’t travel so they’re only they’re only there and he was a collector of art okay they’re all in this one huge out building and then there’s the other part which was his home and now it’s the hotel where we were staying um which was O and then there’s these Stables across the way with you know we’re with an equestrian area and then a little town chantilli is the name of the town how cute and I mean it was just pictures it was like a movie set and our our our room we had a deck and it overlooked this Pond and the gardens and it it was just like you go oh my god wow you know if you were going to have your most fantastic uh vacation you know with your guy M or like a honeymoon you go oh yeah this is where we’re going oh and and the service the service these guys the service is so different there in restaurants and even in the hotels they’re so professional it could be the places we stayed too but they were so professional they let you just sit there they don’t try to turn over the table they don’t hover over you and say hey do you have everything you want you know how it is here and like you’re in the middle of a conversation and someone walks up to you uh it’s not like that at all you have to anytime you want some whatever you just and they’re kind of always watching or someone’s watching you just kind of hot hey and as soon as they can bam they’re over they’re there that’s right it was such a different way to to have a meal relaxing it was very relaxing our way is just rush rush hurry up get the check and go mhm and most European countries it’s it’s like they really enjoy that time yeah and two hours we go by and we went oh we’re still here and eating and enjoying right and we didn’t even realize it and that’s perfect for you it was just weird CU I eat over the sink you know so this CU you got to hurry up and do something else that’s right and I’m like oh this is different know we’re not on schedule let’s just relax enjoy the setting yeah and um so that was kind that was our last night it was that place yeah it’s about 25 minutes away from Paris okay I have a I have a movie to recommend remember how we’ve talked about how there aren’t any romcoms anymore and well have you seen anyone but you yet no okay it’s Sydney Sweeney and Glenn Powell I’ll download it yeah you you should cuz it is any what anyone but you and it’s funny it’s cute old school rcom yes I love it and it’s light so that was on and we saw other people laughing so we went well okay what are they watching what are they watching so we watched that oh I have one last question fashion trends oh I’m so glad you asked everyone is wearing sneakers running shoes whatever you want to call them you me French the French I’m telling you oh yay but here’s the other thing we noticed the French or the Europeans they’re not walking around looking at their phones I kid you not wow the ones who are sitting at those cafes or whatever we could tell oh they’re Americans right it was mindblowing oh what how refreshing was that they’re not even sitting at cafes doing that they’re talking they’re they’re enjoying themselves unfortunately they’re also doing a lot of smoking which was really obnoxious still smoking over there but they can’t smoke inside but the doors are always open so it kind of still comes in you know but anyway okay so they’re still smoking like crazy over there not on their they’re not on their phones wow it was weird yeah but great weird oh definitely yeah as a result we weren’t well yeah you would probably almost feel guilty I been trying since I got back other than when I started did a few social media things I said you know what I’m going to try to continue this yeah unless I really am waiting for a Tex or I know something important is coming up or someone actually calls Rarity I’m not going to stay glued to my phone because the level of anxiety that I did not have there granted I was on vacation was I think 80% due to the fact that I wasn’t constantly and just watching the other people communicating with each other and enjoying themselves and just walking the art of the conversation and and just enjoy mhm so present so fashion trend I’m telling you sneakers with cute dress sh cute short dresses sneakers with the longer sneakers with shorts of course my God they’re finally into Comfort even saw yeah even saw guys in suits casual you know not button- down you know suits but like casual suits wearing sneakers well that’s nice that’s the only Trend we noticed cuz that’s we were looking too what’s what’s going to hit here in 5 years yeah no and that that was really the only thing and of course there were dogs everywhere cuz you know the French love their dogs so I got to pet a lot of cute dogs that’s fun yeah welcome home and AOA I don’t
