Project I did for my school French Class.
I do NOT own Naima – Coltrane
[Music] Malcolm Turner and today I’ll be presenting to you on educ France so anywhere you go it is incredibly important to be polite and respectful this is prominent in French dining due to its high class nature there are numerous ways to be respectful and in this slideshow we will go over ways to do this so first we’re going to talk about or you put your hands on the table and the most important thing to remember about your hands is that they should never go below the table they should remain above the table on each sides of the plate in a relaxed manner do note this is only regarding high class dining in a more relaxed setting it is just fine to put sheos on the table you can rest your head on it or Cross Your Hands how to hold on in France there is a certain way you must hold your knife and fork if you want to be respectful when you hold your knife and fork your index finger should be outstretched on the handle in America some people hold their Cutlery or silverware in the fist position like this do not do this in France um the correct way to hold your silverware in France is pictured here the fork will always be on the left side of the plate and the knife will always be on the right with the edge facing towards the plate the edge meaning the sharp side this will always be the same regardless of your dominant hand if you’re using a spoon it will always be held in the same hand as your fork what about when you’re done eating well in between bites you should put the fork and the knife at the left and right sides to the plate 4 and 8:00 pictured right which is right here in most cases you may have a little stand for your knife so your napkin does not get dirty called un Port Coto K rest your knife there and this is the knife stand by the way uh when you’re completely done eating it is important to remember that your silverware should never touch the table when it is resting on the plate when you are done with your food put the silverware on your right side of the plate and this will show the waiter that you are done eating just pictured above now what about your napkin when you’re done eating put your napkin by the side of your plate but do not fold it I had to sit down and leave the table this is important in a typical French dining setting the host slth Hostess will se you often uh whenever you can seating is man woman so on and so forth and now if there’s a couple at the table they will sit next to each other and it is also customed that before the meal starts the host or the hostess will say B Appetit and then the meal will begin now my final point will be about what if you don’t like the food if you do not like the food that you were served don’t make a big fuss about it do not do not push your food away or pick at it this is considered very impolite in France and no one should try to embarrass you for not eating it but if they do just tell them it was delicious but you are not hungry in France you would say now please try to eat as much of the food as you can though as even children are taught to eat everything that they take um if you don’t like the food you I I would just eat parts of it that I do like and not eat the rest of it so thank you for listening to my presentation hope you are doing well and I hope you have a good night [Music]
