Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter was the first Walt Disney World Resort we stayed at as a couple. The landscaping, smells and Bourbon Street aesthetic made that trip unforgettable and we’ve been back to this resort twice since. Despite this being our favorite Walt Disney World moderate hotel we’d never experienced their signature Lounge, Scat Cat’s.

Opening at 5pm nightly, Scat Cat’s Lounge offers up a classic Jazz Kitchen aesthetic that perfectly complements the turn of the 20th Century Bourbon Street theme of Port Orleans French Quarter. This Lounge even hosts a live Jazz Band on certain days of the week.

After finding out Scat Cat’s Lounge recently revamped their menu we felt like it was the perfect time to finally experience this charming Walt Disney World bar. We ordered EVERY new item on the menu and all the options definitely brought the classic Nawlin’s spice. After dinner, we stopped by the neighboring Scat Cat’s Cafe and had our favorite beignets in all of Disney. Orleans Resort um three two times right yeah this is our first trip ever we stayed here so that’s like a special place in our heart seriously we feel like we’re on vacation anytime we come visit here we love the aesthetic here the iron railings outside um the foliage

It’s just it’s so Charming yeah seriously the fountain right as you walk in it’s kind of like a little Atrium as you walk in the majority of the is actually outside and it has this beautiful French Quarter aesthetic it’s so pristine and clean the Landscaping

Here is beautiful um I go on and on about it but yeah they do have a very popular Lounge here called scat cats now if you’ve watched one of our previous videos probably we did actually did a tour on here we have the Beet over at scat Cats Cafe right but the lounge

You’re not staying here and want to visit the porter leans French Quarter is actually pretty easy 10 15-minute boat ride from Disney Springs if you’re entering in through the back uh you can actually just walk right in and make a right but if you’re entering through the front if you’re staying here you’re

Beet oh yes it’s a beignet shrimp beet PoBoy this is the Dey nachos and Dey nachos this is the new vegan right this is vegan spinach dip that’s vegan and then this is the gumbo poutin yes are you ready for it no it look this is what I think to me

Looks the best the gumbo poutine yes I really like um saak fries and there’s a nice portion and there’s cheese curds gumbo and like a cheese sauce it like very thick fries they’re absorbing the gumbo very well yeah I would have used like a little fork with

That so you can get some of the more of the sausy bits and cheese on there it’s delicious the gumball has a kick but it’s not too bad gumbo if I can handle it like you can handle it and I like how there’s two types of

Cheese like give me all the cheese and different textures the cheese sauce is helping to cool down the spice a little bit and it’s like I like that it’s like smothered like there is no like fry uncovered with all this goodness I’m going to give this an eight yeah it definitely looks really

Good I can’t wait to have a bite myself I’m so excited to eat this look how saturated this is this is like J food made very well yeah all right let’s get a little bit of everything on this bite great flavor very light on the spice and

The thing about the spice is like the cheese cools it down and the fries really absorb all the gumbo juice and cheese juice I don’t see any sausage in the gumbo other than that the steak fry is one of the most perfect fries for a poutine or for something like this

Because it absorbs all that flavor and it makes it like a nice potato kind of mess in your mouth the light spice is cooled down by the cheese curd then you have a little bit of sharp from the other type of cheese that’s in there this is delicious I agree with your

Eight Sam I just if this is there supposed to be sausage gumbo in my I thought that gumbo was like um like a stew kind of it is it is but I always I every time I had gumbo it was a sausage stew if if you guys think that there

Should be sausage and gumbo or if you know there shouldn’t let us know in the comments below I’m always open I feel there’s different types of Gumbo yeah if it had a sausage I’d give it a nine but for me it’s taking an eight cuz it’s missing that all right and do

Nachos this was probably this and the gumbo are probably two things I had my eyes on most three of the four things we got came with chips just so know I like myself some chips they do looks it looks very layered I appreciate that so this

Has and dewy and red bean chili cheese sauce Trinity Pico and sour cream on corn tortilla chips this another thing you could probably use a fork with I want to test out the chip strring the dexterity of the chip the chip is not crunchy it’s probably our fault cuz

We’ve had it sit for a little bit we tend to take a lot of b-roll and pictures and that makes things cool down unfortunately o I think this one is slightly spicier than the gumbo in the poutine a lot of flavor but like look I think there’s almost so much topping

That like look at the the chip the chip is merely a vehicle for the ouy man they really do they pack the flavor and the cheese sauce and the sour cream helps cool it down slightly but this one definitely has more kick than the other

One I would give this one a seven okay so a little is it the spice only back or the sogginess of the chip both of those things combined yeah it could have one I can I can handle more and there I almost think that there’s too much like I like

That there’s a lot of topping but it’s almost this is too much for these ships can’t handle all that can’t handle it okay I’m going to try to Fork a knife this one because I wanted try to get a full chip look at this I think some of these are still crispy

Sam I mean you saw the ones I had though I mean they were visibly flopping that that has a spice though definitely more spice more that melty fake cheese oh wow when you swallow you feel that and it’s more like melty fake cheese the poutine is definitely better I like the chips

Though like if you look at the is they we also we got a top some be chips with the dip with the vegan dish we got they’re good corn tortilla chips not really salted but when you have so much flavor I don’t think you want too much

Salt in a chip using them for dipping I just think you need a very light salt inness saltiness I like this a lot but again you’re right the poutine is a higher quality so I’m going to agree with your seven on this I do love the flavor though I love the melty cheese

Like this is tastes like an elevated por leans nachos to me a perfect bar food all right so this is the spinach and Arch choke dip I wonder if this is spicy too and this is vegan cheese it’s the melti vegan cheese I’d ever seen you’re a nice crunch on that

Right so I am going to try the spinach Nar choke tip but I wanted to eat this before it started getting too cold on me so this is the shrimp um pooy in a Ben bun and they have these delicious chips with this seasoning on them Sam you’ve

Already tried them on chip haven’t you possibly and there’s a Cajun ramade sauce how does shrimp go with beignet I was Highly Questionable of that you don’t like sweet and savory typically it’s good the shrimp adds a perfect texture to the very light and fluffy beignet and the powdered sugar on

The outside it only like it’s only a light sweetness so just elevates the other flavors another thing though Sam guess what I’m going to say spice it’s spicy it’s a Cajun ram my stomach is not going to be happy tonight but my I’m G to be happy after eating all this it’s

Delicious I like this just as much as the gumbo I think it’s elevated I did not expect to like it I thought the sweetness was going to be too much for me but the actual kind of beignet exterior mixes in so well with the crunchy flaky

Fish um and just it’s just a light light sweetness that’s perfect way to compliment um The Salty and Sav and spice that’s in this I’m going to give it an eight it’s really good all right so I need to try this one out to vegan

Dish I use a chip to help me dip my other chip that’s my secret I so I like that but it has a flavor I’ve never had in in like a spinach dip before it definitely doesn’t taste like regular spinach dip but I still there’s some cream I think it’s still

Creamy it’s just it’s interesting it’s not as like thick as traditional spinach dip there’s this like spinachy taste that I feel like maybe sometimes you don’t get from a spinach and AR choke dip because the cream in it always overpowers most of it which I don’t I

Don’t get here there’s also a lot of spiciness in this like you said chips are perfect nice and crunchy not too salty I’m going to agree with your I’m you said seven right yes I’m going agree with your seven on this it’s very good I can tell it’s vegan cheese but I almost

Think that that’s part of what elevates this is the little sharpness from the vegan cheese and the fact that it’s not too creamy allows the actual spinach to shine and all the flavors T tastes fresh and delicious all right we’re heading out but we’re not leaving we have to get ourselves some

Beignet from the cafe next store I guess getting beignet is the popular thing to do right now there was literally no line when we were in here before you see right here at the front they have their specialty beet at the top they even have some boozy beignet only here over 21 and

Fresh you can Fe yeah they’re warm made to order these are what Tiana’s beignet should be to me and I just made a mess that’s that is B though you got to make a mess with [Applause] beet 10 10 yeah these are Quint essential Disney and Quint essential por Orleans yes the chocolate sauce and the chocolate sauce is hot it’s a chory chocolate sauce so good I’m going to cut my ear off that sounded that sounded bad if I I don’t want to cut my ear off okay

Look at that look at it fresh look at the inside how pillowy it is they’re so fluffy all right now let’s get a good dip they’re perfect I need to try the Disneyland ones again I think we’ve only had them once but the ones at the Tiana

The restaurant is are were terrible in my opinion I have not been impressed by I need to try we we haven’t tried the pant pet they have at Golden Oak Outpost in magic them we hear people like them but they’re C I don’t even know if they

Have them anymore cuz that was like a limited I heard they they suck with them oh hopefully they SL hopefully they make them better but we did hear people like them these are just so good they’re crispy on the outside and they have this like pillowy interior nice sweetness from the

Powdered sugar and then a good bitterness added in the chocolate sauce I prefer this sauce over the other ones very good I’m going to G through 10 if you stay here or if you’re just in the area you got to come here you got to get the Beet it’s like it’s the Disney

Experience unless you don’t like beignet obviously to each their own everyone has different flavor palette that they enjoy some of these times these are too greasy these aren’t greasy at all to me just so good what I meant to say is sometimes people find beet to be greasy these

Beignet I don’t think are greasy at all though all right so that do it for our time checking out scat cats lounge and we also ended up at the cafe cuz we couldn’t not get those beet you can get the boozy beet I believe

Over at the lounge and I do want to say the lounge definitely that bar food was so elevated right it was so good and the staff there are so amazing I actually feel that way about the staff all over this Resort like everywhere you go they’re they’re always really great yeah

So for this Resort you don’t technically have a sit down restaurant there is boat R which is over at Port orleans’s Riverside it’s an easy walk from here they’re kind of connected the two Resorts uh but for here technically you don’t have a sitdown restaurant I almost

Feel like the lounge is kind of a sitdown restaurant because it’s full service the waiter comes right up to us he asks us what we want to eat the food is really good although the menu is limited I mean we probably ate half the menu today and it’s mostly carbohydrates

And cheese and spice it’s like yeah spices and beet yeah as part of the C caloric intake here it was it was delicious though I really enjoyed it I’m not sure how well my stomach’s going to do later uh but I thought the food was really good that’s problem for you later

Later J problem and and the beignet I mean they were the only 10 we had today we definitely recommend if you were in the porter Le area we’re I mean even if like I think they’re worth a boat ride from Disney Springs honestly cuz I agree

Even just for the Beet and and I thought the bignet were like the perfect cap from the dinner like it just capped it off nice and sweet and fluffy yeah also like the atmosphere here the aesthetic the architecture the foliage the Landscaping U the interior design the iron railings um Rawlings whatever

  3. I think I found my next bucket list resort! This place looks beautiful and so fun. The very best disney beignets, the Jazz Kitchen Express in Downtown Disney, has always been my favorite. They are made to order and covered with powered sugar. I'm sure part of the awesomeness is the nostalgia from eating them over the years while walking thru Downtown Disney and leaving a trail of powered sugar, but they are really delicious.   8. Oh this makes me want to stay @ the French Quarter! We have stayed @ Riverside (and Dixie Landings wayyyy back in the day). French Quarter used to have a full service restaurant. I cannot remember the name! I need to get out my 1995 Birnbaum's WDW book lol. All the food looks so so good. The beignet's @ the Mint Julep bar in DL used to be really good but the one's at Cafe Orleans were amazing. Have you tried the one's at Ralph Brennans in DTD?   11. Chicken & andouille sausage is the most common gumbo…seafood gumbo's a close 2nd – no sausage, but any combination of shrimp, oysters and crab.

We might just have to swing by and check it out in October, although I would love to listen to the Jazz band …. 🙂 We will be at Boardwalk so it will be a hop, skip and a jump to get to Port Orleans.   13. I stayed at this resort last summer. The beignets were great and even taste goog the next day. Agree on the chicory chocolate being the best sauce, but the strawberry is no joke either.

    I also loved the Baton Rouge burger at Sassagoula with the fried green tomatoes and pimento cheese.
