It’s a little bit earlier than usual for me this morning Philip’s already got up actually because sabina’s coming today for a couple of weeks so that’s really lovely he’s gone to get her but the reason I have to get up is that anaise is coming to do Marie’s Hair and she

Said that while she was here she would give me lovely wavy hair as well so I’m going to get up and wash my hair just as soon as I feel that I could properly open my eyes hello oh my goodness Marie oh can I look exactly like Marie please

In every way you look fabulous thank you oh I love this style spring very nice determined sum’s come actually I’m was like oh it’s sunny outside I’m going to wear something sunny and cheerful colorful yeah but I’m quite cold so I’ve got a hot water

Bottle can we have one more spin Mar you look oh that hair is beautiful and it’s so glowing I love the color it’s so we just brightened it up a little bit love it did little bit of Pop through the front and yeah just brightens sun-kissed

Natural I love it yeah it’s gorgeous you are amazing thank you we are pretty lucky to have you here yeah absolutely I feel lucky to come here I really do I feel lucky to be surrounded by you all and appreciated by you all’s just arrived hello oh you are on Trend your

Coat’s a bit like Marie is it yes I think we have a bit of a laand uniform now now I like it now you just take one yeah I do actually I do you look great good to see you you’re wearing your new sunglasses your um Dracula sunglasses

Dracula yeah cuz you look like Gary Oldman and Dracula in them I like it you do yes yeah absolutely get out the sun we bought precooked bread yeah is there a reason for that when we get we were out of bread yesterday oh let’s never let that happen again

Ever I’m like is doing well this is making me really happy honestly didn’t think we’d ever finish it he loved me but it takes a few visits you just need to keep coming back I will don’t worry give Mee give me aood like that food’s definitely the way to his heart

Yes I miss I’m sorry I’m sorry oh no wonder he don’t you listen to that but now that I’m here I I I can feel in my heart that I actually did have something Miss feelings you didn’t know you had yes what is all of this uh these are the vases

That Crow go there were maybe like two I don’t know do we have the first vase I think it’s smaller than we thought opening wise yeah it is very small yeah I think that’s like two flowers but yeah for a bedroom yeah that’s what we thought but it’s

Maybe too small I think it was €3 I like it oh oh yes they are cute and that’s a pair yes this is me a feel of compromising about VES this is what compromise looks like yeah appar Marie wanted something um with a smaller neck neck exactly and I said well if we’re

Doing that anyway then let’s get some CST how many did you order in total six I think that is a pair so seven I suppose simple nice okay if you’re excited I’m excited well I was excited oh that was bigger yes and this was the expensive one this

Is the €1 15 one yeah we went wild in this one ooh I like that one oh oh that’s a crowd pleasa a kitchen pleaser very nice it is definitely Crystal yeah it’s more high pitch yeah rather than that’s glass okay so those two are glass yeah definitely Crystal I love

This one yeah it’s good oh that’s the best one yes oh you look so pretty thank you very much I’ve asked Analise to make it we’re not getting enough attention hello hello hello he likes it Hees he really likes he likes Marie’s Hair as well he was

Very happy to see her I asked for it super curly well more so than yours because I want it to last a few days so it will then eventually just it looks really beautiful turn into waves well done well done we got friends coming around tonight so Mar and I be looking

Super glamorous for thank you we’re going to go and see how amory’s getting on hello Molly oh who can blame you that does look like a good spot much warmer out than in today hello hello hello oh is this the chandelier yes swapping it for for this one so

Basically this one’s a bit small for here yeah I agree and next door there just a bulb it’s also quite High isn’t it feels as though it’s clamped to the ceiling exactly we talking about maybe moving that one next door oh I see what you mean so I think doesn’t feel great

Does it it doesn’t feel Grand oh dear no yeah I know there’s a lovely tapestry great lights no all that’s good that’s letting the side down I just need a longer length of Twi Earth gold colored and some chain okay all right so we need

To order that was it lighting day at the chatau today well we were talking about the fact that as has to order some stuff anyway for the other lights electrical projects that we have these are the lights that were from the U Music Room yes next door when it was the dining

Room exactly going to come in here no I like these in the dining room because the sort of fruits it just feels right we took the painting away here it was very dark and the BCT light that was here didn’t do anything anymore we couldn’t find a bulb that anymore it’s a

Really old picture light yeah so if we move that light here much more light in in the dining room and then we’ll also take and put the other two there and these are the ones from the and there’s four of them so these will go next door so it’s like total

Lighting reshuffle but it’ll be much brighter there’s only one bulb each and so they have two WS there two WS there yeah it do get dark in here be much nicer where these go next door oh already ho sweet and I think they’re all like that oh they look really good in

Here it’ll cover the T the wallpaper yeah I like it I think Marie’s making risotto tonight and I’m in charge of dessert you can see me sort of pointing vaguely towards the thermomix we’re working together again I’m going to make a basque cheesecake I keep remembering Maria’s Basque cheesecake it was the

Best so I’ve got a high standard to live up to but really if it’s only half as good it’s still going to be delicious the reason I’ve chosen this recipe is also that I’ve got a lot of cream chees cheesy creamy buttery things that I have to use up in the House and a bit white look it’s really it’s right at the top is it supposed to be right at the top this is scaring me it is a bit scary but we won’t win unless we you know we have to try to win we’re reaching for the Stars we are okay

Here we go it’s going in have you got the oven on Yes that is dangerously close I also think that’s a little bit close to the element yes end up with a little mini fire in here uh that wouldn’t be good no I’ve done that yeah we will be there I’ve already spilled a bit okay prepare for the smell of intense

Burning 1 hour to go best of luck it’s happening again it’s another one of those days yes better watch out the entire fridge contents are coming out there’s dying stuff around here so dying stuff that’s B half like barely full jar of something so it just needs to tidy up

My bit for all the creams mascap Pony cream cheese good yeah we’re down to one of each now this is very good thank you very much all right I’m going to go check on the chapel room stories all right it’s crazy how much warmer outside it is than inside it’s actually holding

A hot water bottle but no oh here it’s not needed at all I can hear the trusty dehumidifier going from here I look oh they’re all working upstairs again let’s go up there and find them oh was that a TR for for spee for wa we

For and viril got the drying task again so it’s trying to work out which laky gray is going to work for these walls the restorers are at quite a fascinating stage now because now is the decision of how far to take the restor and quite a

Lot of you have asked me in the comments is it going to look brand new will that lose the charm of the chapel and that’s precisely what we have to decide we can go completely new so it looks as though it’s just been built and actually I’m

More towards that side of things because then it will gradually bit by bit over time become looking a little older and more tired again whereas if we leave it looking too tired now it’s going to look worse much more quickly and I keep thinking of my father as an artist I

Think he would want people to see his paintings as he had envisaged them but at the same time we don’t want to make it look too much like Disneyland this completely fake finished Chapel which isn’t showing its age at all so we’re starting off very very slowly benoir and

Elton who are doing the painting at the moment have just done that first pass of the Vault and tomorrow they’ll be having a meeting with the architect to see how much further they can go with without it spoiling the effect because apparently just a few Strokes of the brush and

They’ve gone too far I feel they can go a little bit further because there are areas like this that they’re not going to have to restore at all which have got a lot more color on than the areas they’re working on now I think if they

Bring it to this sort of level of finish then they’ll be matching up nicely with the other chapel and not repainting everything to have a brand new Chapel so this is the phase where it really comes down to Artistry and to philosophy which philosophy of restoration we’re going

Down and there’s no right or wrong answer at this stage just have to feel what works best it is so exciting seeing the colors going on it’s definitely champagne day today it’s buono’s birth day today so we have to celebrate that thank goodness it’s champagne day what is the bottle of

Strange pink stuff this delicious little liquid it says pickled but there’s nothing in it pickled beetro juice oh oh yum what are we going to use the juice for I can use it as a base for stocks sauces that kind of thing keeps forever okay I bet you happy about that I’m

Happy about the sushi day two of the sushi and it has to be finished today so I’m going to make a little corner for myself here some ice with your sushi that’s the way we do our ice cubes here at l in case you’re having an afo here

As a guest you’ll know where it comes from oh dear this meal is the first one I’ve had today so technically it’s breakfast Sushi and toon breakfast of Kings we’re doing mayonnaise Jenga this is the amount of mayonnaise that was in our fridge I think Philip is responsible

For this problem he’s definitely is that’s not going to work and we have four mustards three tartar sauces all started have you seen the amount of hot sauces yes that is not me um there’s more than that even yeah well it’s out of the oven and I cannot

Believe it it’s risen like a sulay I’m guessing it’s going to drop back down I’m just leaving it to cool in the tin it is supposed to be very dark on top Basque cheesecake slightly burns on the very top always yeah come and have a

Look at this look how far it came up wao oh what a day can I have a recipe uh yes in the th mix I just washed my hands so wow that’s quite something isn’t it well who knows if it there yeah lelot is leading the procession over to the

Chapel the iceberg pass the iceberg excellent okay I’ll close the door are singing as we open the door yes that’s a good Idea Che it’s not everyday someone speaking to you in Dutch here yes per how are you doing still working on it yes cheers are very very lovely and so is you hello you culinary genius a culinary genius and I know everyone watching is AE what is the risoto it’s a saffron

And and the peash and the marvelous thing about the peo is it in the window here as soon as we pick them they shoot up again I guess uh who is in the name this could be a bit of a catastrophe at least this comes off already so that’s

That’s a winner right there look what I did you because I made this slightly too big this bit didn’t stick down it’s gone inside the cake was something isn’t that always something and the thing about this is that it’s slightly burnt but that’s on purpose right thank you for

Adding that because I was really worried everyone would think that this was not on purpose I’ve seen it on Instagram so many times and I wanted to make one but I don’t have to oo it’s still quite Gooey

  1. I would of completed the vaulted ceilings the best that could be and also the highest parts of the chapel
Yet the lowel level you could afford maybe leaving a more maybe a slighty worm say 50-75 year old finish, like the finish will ruin so much faster than the rest. And in 30 years or 50 years time, can you imagine the restorations team returning and the cost then.

  2. I'm sure you'll find that perfect balanced way to restore the chapel given all the experts involved in this discussion (referring to the professionals you've hired in France NOT your followers!) I really have faith you'll let the conservationists and restorers determine this together rather than the American sponsors. I'm sorry, but lay-peoples opinions shouldn't influence these decisions no matter the clout behind them, or you'll end up with people claiming X sponsored stars give them yay much remote power of opinion. It won't stop.
As an artist with friends in art conservation and restoration here in Europe I know how sensitive historic murals are and how important it is to get the restoration right, and done with sensitivity to the original vision but also the conservation of the original artwork and the signs of the age of the building.
Americans online everywhere will simply repaint antiques oblivious to the instantaneous loss of the factual value of the piece the very moment they do. It's insanely common nowadays. I wish the followers of this channel would just trust the actual professional expertise and Stephanie will work this out through experiments, discussion and the usual processes involved in careful restoration processes like this, and let things take all the time needed to be done with utmost care of the many values of the chapel.
Understand the goal isn't a copy of the old build, but preserving an actual piece of history including the marks of the ages it's survived. It's what history IS. The story of this chapel and of this entire Chateau, and on a wider scale, of national heritage, ie the history of France and its people. It's not just "private property" to "bling up" thats just an awful notion!
I love this vlog but sometimes the followers not so much… 🥴
Mon Dieu. Quite literally. Keep the faith in the slow and careful process. Erring on the side of caution is always better so restoration doesn't cancel conservation, which is a disaster when it occurs. If one cant understand the difference, please refrain from forming an opinion. I have none. I have faith this won't be rushed or influenced by anyone outside the field of expertise. It's a privilige to just follow along and see the progress!
Thank you for sharing it with us! 🙏❤️

  5. Stephanie, I can’t believe you foisted Champagne onto your chapel restorers and walked away with them still holding their paint brushes. Reminds me of the time about 60 years ago that my dad and a friend decided to wallpaper our dining room ceiling while at the same time drinking a case of beer. Needless to say the strips were very wonky and years later when my sisters and I stopped by our old homestead the new owners were very welcoming but they were real curious about the dining room ceiling fiasco. We all had a huge laugh when they explained they were going to re-paper it the following week and were so glad to finally hear the history of the wonky dining room ceiling. Hopefully your restorers were winding down and quitting for the day…otherwise you could have some wonky stars intermingled with a fleur-de-lis!

  6. Love seeing the paint colors being painted. Both of your hair looks really fun. The cheesecake looked good too.

  7. The new guy in the chapel restoration is so attractive, wow. The fleeting glance he gave the camera was so…..words fail me…smoldering would describe it.

  8. What an excellent and lovely team restoring the Chapel (you must be magnets for genuine artistic people) really enjoying the colour matching etc and wow yummy looking cheesecake
