Here are three ways I experienced cultural shock after moving to France 5 years ago having grown up in India I used to think that working overtime or over the weekends was pretty common among adults and you don’t expect to get paid over time either after moving to

France I learned work life balance is very important and that we can have for personal activities and not to serve your boss’s sistic requirements number two I had to teach myself La tests in conversations here you never start a conversation without saying hey how are you doing even if you don’t give a

About how the other person is doing and you always always thank people and apologize for the tiniest things no matter how close you are and coming from a culture where friends will get maded at you for thanking them or apologizing this was a tough one Indians will be

Nice to you through their actions go out of their way to help you but their language by European standards can come off as rude even though that was not the intention number three I now get startled on the road when I hear a car honk in most South Asian countries car

Honking is just the norm people are so used to car honking that is white noise for them at this point here in France roads are silent and if someone honks it’s because something went really wrong and everyone turns their head to see what happened let me know your thoughts

On these and share your experiences as well

  1. Being rude through the language but actually caring about the person>>>> being nice to the face and not giving a shit about them in reality

  2. On the other hand going to a country where people honk a lot as an european, you become hyper vigilant trying to see where the problem comes from or why there’s honking in the first place, that is quite interesting to say the least 😅🤣

  3. Omg the superficial politeness. Coming from a Desi background I moved to the UK last year and my partner had to apologize for me everywhere because I was apparently not saying please or thank you enough, even to close friends and family like his mother and brother. In our culture, a thank you is implied in tone and "yes, if you don't mind sparing some" is the same as "yes please, if you don't mind sparing some", I was coming across as rude just for not adding "please' at every other sentence (within the same conversation). It also feels so strange to walk up to cashiers and such and start with "hello, how are you?" Worse of all, these niceties just feel false because no one really cares. I miss home and our straightforward people.

  4. There are flaws in every nation but how it is presented that matters,I don't think India has tons of problems and rest of the world just chill out!!!

  5. My cultural shock in France :
When you borrow something from a french person and they ask you to return it back they would say "can you give me back MY pen / MY rubber / MY charger ?! "

In my mind I was like "bro I know that is YOUR pen / rubber / charger, why do you need to pit it that way ?!?! 😤"

Because in north africa we don't say MY but THE

Can you give me back THE Pen / Rubber…

Yeah because I know I borrowed YOUR stuff I never PRETENDED IT WAS MINE

    😂😂😂

It took me a whole year to stop feeling the hurt of this way of speaking 😅

  6. France has iron clad labour laws that the world should imitate. And I've observed that French people across political lines are proud of them, and protest regularly to keep them.

  7. Indian people are polite in formal settings. One of the synonymous for politeness in Hindi is * औपचारिकता*, literally translating to formality.

  8. I am indian but I am oman grown up, here honking is considered as really bad aswell, so when i go to ind it feels like duddeee😂😂😂

  9. So sorry…but did not pay attention to 'ur story because your noodle dish looked soo good.
Would sleep like a baby after eating this 😮😮
    😅😅!!

  10. Starting a conversation as "Hey how r U doing, even if U don't care a shit about how they r doing" was ultimate. I have thought about it often when I came here too!

  11. মুরগির মাংস রান্না, বেগুনি, শাকের চপ সবকিছু মিলিয়ে খুব ভালো লাগলো ❤👍

  12. The food, the voice over.. everything was so well done.. one of my most favourite video of yours ❤
