Many tourists travel from Tahiti to Moorea for a few days to enjoy the calm and warm waters of the lagoon where it is easy to see the sharks, rays and fish. While in Moorea be sure to enjoy the excellent food scene, which is probably the best in the south pacific. Restaurant Tiahura Chez Irene should be on your list of spots to visit. It is the restaurant with sand on the floor (one of many on the island).
The food is delicious, and the price is right! You will come away happy. But beware! Patience is required. Our meal took an hour to arrive. This was not a unique experience as the table next to us mentioned the food took so long they forgot what they ordered.
But the food was worth the wait! Enjoy a beer (or two) in the meantime. You can even have part of your party walk to check out the stores nearby while you wait for your food.
The attire is super casual and a little hot. People wearing bathing suits and slippers (or barefoot – can you notice the waiter is barefoot). The poison crue was really fresh! It had a lime and herb flavor. One of the best on the entire trip.

Today we eat lunch at Tiahura Restaurant in Moorea Tiahura is about 3 minute drive from Tipaniers beach Furry friends are included in your meal! The vibe is local style to the max! Sand on the floor. Local music. Look closely and you can see the waiter is barefoot.
The restaurant was totally packed when we first came. It thined out. Mahimahi with Rockford sauce. The fish was delicious, fresh and good serving size. The second order is the Trilogy with shrimp curry, ribs and poison crue which was really good.
