Bonjour friends,
Today, I’m sharing the start to finish renovation work on our kitchen/dining room in France. I show the renovation work that’s been done from start to finish. I also share before and after pics towards the end of this video. I love seeing the before and after, because it reminds me of where it started and how far the space has come. I hope that you too will enjoy it! I love that I get to be apart of preserving this old historic building.

In 2023 our family embarked on a new adventure in France this property will serve as a store location for French Farmhouse square and our second home my name is Jessica Lawrence come join me on my adventures in France get ready for some French Farmhouse flare PA your friends today we are
Working in the kitchen today’s video is very exciting friends because today I am sharing a complete kitchen renovation with you from the very beginning until the very end and you’re going to want to stay till the very end because let me tell you it’ll be worth it and you don’t
Want to miss the before and after and revealing what it looks like all decorated at the end so stick with me I know this is a long video friends but like I said it will be worth it this first part of the video was filmed back in the summertime in a previous kitchen
Renovating video we exposed the stone wall in the kitchen and Tuck pointed it as well today we are finishing up the other walls using the same products that we used before on the wall opposite of the store wall after the tuck pointing was done on the stone wall we also had
To seal it with a clear coat sealer we used a clear coat sealer in a matte finish here are those same products that I mentioned that we used before we’ll be using these again they worked out really nice for us on the First wall that we
Did with it and uh here’s a look at that first wall that we did you can see it dries much lighter in color than the part here that is still wet and we’re just going to finish this wall and then the wall opposite of this wall PA pap w
Before Christmas we took another trip back to France to work on our property so it was back to work and I started painting in the kitchen and in area the all the trim and the window trim the door trim uh the all the trim in the
Room plus this um heater here this wall heater and uh started to paint that and it took a lot of coats to cover this yellow this yellow was being pretty stubborn uh to cover but uh once we got primer on it several coats and then um I
Can’t even remember how many coats I did to be honest it seemed like a lot um at least three coats if not more I just kept having to cover it um it took a lot uh to cover this bright yellow so it looks um not as bright I feel like on
Camera as it is in person so I would call it a school bus yellow and it was just really difficult to cover so I just kept painting and painting until it was uh complete um to my standards and so it looked really good though when it was
All done it was worth all the effort and it just brightened and lightened up the space I think while I was busy working on my projects Mr French Farmhouse decided to hang the chandelier for me in the dining room above the table so he’s hanging the brass chandelier that we
Purchased from the thrift store and I went ahead and changed the light bulbs out for the candle light bulbs that I prefer and then Mr French Farmhouse flare went ahead and rolled the rest of the ceiling he had already painted where the light fixture was going to go so now
He’s just getting the rest of the kitchen and dining room ceiling and it just feels really nice to have a Fresh coat of paint on the ceiling now so the next thing we need to do is take a road trip and I’ll explain why okay friends we are headed to Ikea in France
And we are headed there to get a kitchen sink and a faucet and that was not the original plan but it’s the plan now because we actually ordered a sink and faucet on Amazon here in France and um we’re planning on having it all delivered to our place but that didn’t happen cuz
Why I don’t know the answer Amazon’s horrible in France the only thing I can come up with the customer service is horrible you got AI you have to message back and forth and uh they’re still telling us we might see our stuff this week but by the
Time we get this stuff it’ll be time to go back to America so uh we’re going to cancel those orders and get what we need at Ikea yes and we have been waiting what 4 days now for our orders to to be uh deled place the kitchen faucet was
Supposed to come on the 29th which was Wednesday supposedly they tried delivering it Tuesday a day early which was awesome because we weren’t even there yet which makes no sense since when is Amazon deliver a day early yeah and then we went and got a cell phone or mobile phone so that we
Could put in a local number to contact for the uh delivery people to be able to contact us we have not heard from them they just keep saying they’re going to deliver we wait all day it doesn’t show up yeah and then they change the delivery date yeah it’s very frustrating
Because we want to get a lot done while we’re here and it makes it really hard when we cannot get the things that we need to be able to work on the projects that we need to so yeah makes it difficult so we are going to which location Ikea R is
Kan so Normandy region and uh so yeah we will uh be excited to finally get our sink and faucet even though it’s not the original one we had planned on getting but uh yeah it’ll just be nice to be able to get the things that we need to to finish
Up our kitchen uh renovation work so we’re almost there right I think getting closer so I will see you again soon bye for now oh n take SMS like hey we made it to Ikea we’re going to go in and get what we need now 45€
244 is that the right size then yeah that’s the um 62 by 48 okay there’s our kitchen sink can’t wait it’s exciting oh we need to get the bars too that Brass Bar to hang our little um copper pots from in the kitchen above the
Stove so got to be on the lookout for that too this is actually yeah I do like that breast bar that’s nice it’s a halar 899 oh that’s a good price $8.99 okay let me get the name of it there’s the price we are also going to be
Looking at the Chute rugs while we’re here for the kitchen as well so this one might actually work nice yeah I do like that shelf with the little S hooks but yeah it’s not the brass color we want we were going to get some floating shelves for the kitchen
But they didn’t have them in stock and the right size we needed so we looked at these U faucets and we end up liking this one because the other brass faucet they had was a little too modern looking they only had two that were brass and so I do like the more vintage
Look a little tight here in the renting car but I fit to PA paaa p PA p I picked up this gold paint that is specifically for painting metal objects and the color was perfect to match our brand new kitchen faucet so it was bothering me that the sink drain was
Silver and that’s just the way it comes as you saw in this IKEA store and while we were shopping so anyway I am taking care of that myself here uh by painting it this brass color and I think it’s going to be really pretty and match the faucet perfectly when it’s all
Done because it would really bother me to leave it silver and they don’t offer it in Gold so uh I’m just going to take care of that tedious job myself and I am also painting it uh on the hardware here on the window just to uh tie in with the
Rest of the brass items in the room now I am using a stain and a sealer allinone on the Butcher Block countertop here in the kitchen I wanted to remain a lighter color I didn’t want something that was too dark I just want this kitchen to feel light and bright and I’m really
Happy with how this is turning out we rented a floor sander and so Mr French Farmhouse is getting ready to sand the kitchen and dining room floors and I’m so excited to see them when they’re all done because I know it’s going to make such a difference here and uh be
Beautiful when these floors are all done here you can see where the floors are not sanded and then over here where they are sanded and I think it’s going to be a major transformation when they’re all finished wow and we have paint over here on the floor and they look pretty rough
On this side where it’s not been sanded yet after cleaning the floors it was time to seal them I had extra 12 curtains at home so I thought I might as well bring them here to use here in the dining room and we are rolling out the new rug to use
Here underneath the table in the dining room Mr French Farmhouse is hanging up the little Rod that we bought to hang this curtain and we are going to put the curtain underneath the sink here I love how the curtain matches the lamp shade on our light fixture that we bought to
Hang above the kitchen sink there used to be a light above the fireplace and we’re moving it over so that we can have a light above the sink instead there we go I’m doing my part it’s so nice now to have this extra little light above the sink and
Especially at night time it really adds a nice Ambiance Lighting in the kitchen here when the chandelier light is turned off and you just have this little light on at night now we just need to find a cord cover so we’ll be on the hunt for
One of those now it’s time to hang my beautiful French antique mirror that I found at the most wonderful Brant that I can’t wait to to share with you that tour very soon and it is called The Cider Barn brochant I think that should be good mhm think so too
See we’re we’re not we’re just below the brick yeah we’re hanging on a Mr French Farmhouse and I were thinking that we could add a bottom shelf to this wall shelf uh and and some doll rods and then it could hold more plates as a
Plate rack so we may do that in the future okay friends I wanted to take you on a tour during the daytime but just didn’t happen that way so hope you don’t mind a nighttime tour before we go back to the US I um my last it’ll be my last chance
To be able to video for you so I wanted to get it done before we leave and Mr French Farmhouse is working tonight because it’s actually daytime and earlier back in the US so he’s able to work from his computer from France and so that’s really nice but I just wanted
To give you a little quick tour here of the kitchen and dining room uh done as much as we could this trip and there are still a few little things we need to do here and there and uh we may eventually replace the uh refrigerator and stove but for
Now they’re staying we are also on the hunt for some furniture pieces for the kitchen and dining room on this trip and we were there before Christmas so I do have it decorated here with a Christmas table runner and some green dishes for Christmas as well I thrifted these beautiful green and
Off-white uh dishes that I thought were so pretty and I found them right here at our local thrift St in town I do want to find a French country Hutch to go on this wall here in the dining room I didn’t find a piece of furniture
Yet that will work for that space so I will be on the lookout for the right piece and here I just hung a few little Christmas ornaments uh before Christmas uh while we were here um before the holidays and just to add a little touch of Christmas spirit here in the dining room
I guess you could say I did find a nice wall shelf that is like a plate rack really here in the kitchen and dining area I found it at The Cider Barn Brant and I’m really happy with that because it can hold some dishes here in
The kitchen and dining area and I’m also going to be hanging that other Brass Bar with the hooks above the stove but I didn’t want to hang it just yet because I’m not sure if we’re going to leave the stove in that same position or if we
Will move it so I’m holding off on getting that hung and uh it will match the one that we hung above the kitchen sink and I think that will look nice to be able to hang some copper pots above our stove but I like I said I just want
To make sure we are going to leave it in in that spot before we hang it and then it will also be nice to find some maybe floating shelves to go above the sink area here and also some kind of shelving to go above the stove as well and
Possibly above the refrigerator as well so like I said earlier we’re not completely done there are a few things we still need to finish up in this space but I think overall I think you will uh see how far we have come uh from the very beginning uh where we began and
Where the space is now and the transformation uh between the before and The Afters and what an amazing transformation that it is we have been working so hard to work on this space as much as we can when we do come to France and so seeing one room complete and
Finished uh for the most part is just really nice to have one room that we can come to that’s uh completely done I’m sure that those of you who have renovated an old property understand what I’m talking about and can relate uh just having one room that you
Can go to that’s finished is really nice to just go into and take a little break away from all the other renovation projects in the house do you remember what the kitchen looked like before here it is I don’t know about you but I much prefer the after
Seeing what the kitchen and dining room look like before is a reminder of how much work we’ve done and how far this kitchen and dining room have come we removed this kitchen cabinet that it was above the kitchen sink the bright yellow kitchen cabinet got a makeover the doors
On the bottom of the cabinet were not in good condition so we took them off and added the curtain and I think it added a nice French country touch we removed all of the yellow wallpaper and that bright yellow door and all the trim got a Fresh
Coat of primer and paint that’s in a nice neutral white color that’s Timeless all the walls got a makeover and what a difference it made here’s the after and we also revealed the stone wall in the kitchen as well all of the lenum floors had to be
Removed so that we could reveal the beautiful hardwood floors I think this kitchen and dining room have come a long way let me know what you think of it in the comments below I’m going to give you a closer look at things before I wrap up
My video I appreciate you so much for staying until the end of this video and for following along with our renovation projects here in France oh

Looks wonderful! Love your dinnerware as well.
It turned out so lovely. Great job!
It’s lovely, Jessica! What a difference.
I absolutely love the final outcome of your kitchen dining room. Mr. and Mrs. French Farm House Flair, and Sons, you did a spectacular job. I can hardly wait to see what more you do. ❤❤❤
WOW!
So happy to see this progress Jessica! You've turned this into such a beautiful space! I love all the brocante (of course!). Can you please let us know how the gold / laiton paint holds up on the drain in the sink? I'm planning on doing the same thing for my kitchen! I have also gotten the same rods at Ikea to hang pots and pans. Anxiously waiting for our renovation to progress. Yes I know how much effort and time goes in and admire how much you get done while only being here for a few days or weeks each time you come. It looks like Mr French Farmhouse is a professional builder? Just wanted to make sure you know you shouldn't seal stone walls. They need to breathe to avoid humidity issues. Also never point them using cement, but I think I saw you using chaux and sand when you repointed the walls so that's perfect. Anything "imperméable" or "imperméabilisant" you want to avoid on your walls. The floors look amazing too! What a difference! Congratulations on all the progress, the house will be gorgeous!
You could sew a gathered cord cover in a complimentary material.
Jessica, I really enjoy watching the renovation videos. The kitchen and dining room are beautiful. Can't wait to see what you do next.
Your kitchen and Dining room are stunning. I look forward to seeing the rest of your home
Have you ever watched Rural Refurb she decorates in like old world look she covers her light cords in like a jute rope she shows how in a video they look nice. Your kitchen looks amazing!❤ The walls and floor turned out beautiful like your idea of adding another shelf to the plate holder.
Amazing transformation! so much hard work. looks great!
Love it! So pretty!😍The drain would have bothered me, too! Let me know how it holds up.❣️
The lightbulb!😂
You kept it simple and held onto the charm. Even Ikea has a place in a French kitchen! Love that the chandelier is reflected in the mirror. Lovely. New subscriber!
To my eye, the cord for the over sink light would look better, if it was positioned to the left into the corner. Of course, I don't know where the outlet is located 😉 Also, French Cleats are great for hanging heavier items like your wood upper hutch plate rack.
Love the exposed stone wall and the green motif dinnerware. ⚜
WOW 😯Lots of hard work and beatiful out come. The floors turned out amazing. Can't wait to see the rest. 💖
Interesting n inspiring video…love your great kitchen decoration..❤
Wonderful family renovation!
So inspiring. (I think the stove and fridge should swap places.)Try to find 'cord a cover' in brass! Love the red Toile de Jouy! ❤
Great work!! Your refrigerator will have exposure….a SMEG would
be a fine choice. I say this because of its size and the colour choices are terrific. The price may
wee bit higher…it comes in a buttercream colour.
Soooooo cozy love it! Great job.
Gorgeous, I’m watching this beautiful drive through the villages and can’t imagine a ikea at the end….
The kitchen/dining room looks very cozy and French. Thanks for sharing! 💯
I love that you didn’t ruin the charm of the kitchen. Beautiful.
Amazing Reno the brick wall and floors are gorgeous.
