Did and this is the time for my running mate tuesday evening on k10 comes with a world of knowledge and tonight is no different up next my running mate betty callow brings us this evening’s edition of how things work she breaks down all the do’s and don’ts when it comes to fine dining Food different cultures delicacies diverse ways of eating breakfast lunch or dinner it all serves the same purpose beating back hunger pants however over the years eating has evolved from just feeding the appetite Three forks soup spoon butter knife steak knife fish knife side plate three glasses napkin it can all be overwhelming victorian dinner etiquette definitely isn’t just about digging in and has caused embarrassment to many adina but fear not tonight we get you a purse into the world of fine dining on how things work
As much as fine dining is all about enjoying the food and the atmosphere your conduct while enjoying this goodness is vital it starts with the sitting for instance according to experts in this field if you’re just about to have a dinner date the man should always give the best seat in the
House to the lady maybe a seat with a view or one that is out of the waiter’s way the best seat in the house is reserved for the lady so the mansion positioned himself in a way where he’s watching the football game with one eye his entire focus
Should be on the person that he’s dining with as the same goes when in rome do what the romans do and so after taking position placing of the napkin comes next here the napkin should be unfolded and put on the lap the napkin by the way
Is placed on the lap so if you are a grown man or woman please do not do this this is a no-no hot towels are only for your hands therefore it is considered unsuitable for the towels to be used on the face or other parts of the body
In many restaurants you’ll probably get this served to you first bread and soup careful you’re not into the main course yet this is called a starter meant to wet your appetite this will be the first test to your dinner etiquette what you want to do
Betty is you want to break the bread you don’t want to cut it with your knife so you’re just going to break it into the number of pieces that are going to pop into your mouth and then you’re going to butter your bread on the plate
Buddy not up in the air like this soup ideally you want to take the soup away from you so the motion is away from you and then it comes up to your mouth you’re not sticking at your mouth you’re not going there should be no noise accompanying the drinking of soup Glasses that are placed on the table all have their purpose and sort of drink remember they are placed on the right upper side of the table that means the glasses on the left side belong to your sitting partner so millicent is pouring the water in the
Water glass so this is the water glass and then she will then give us the wine in our wine glasses so the red wine glass is bigger because it allows you to enjoy the bouquet it allows the red wine the air to get in so that you can fully enjoy according to
Him a witty comment after the first sip will go a long way our wine betty is to be enjoyed with all the senses so we start off first of all by looking at it so look at it against the light okay and then we’ll enjoy it without sense of smell so
Don’t put your nose all the way in they say something witty like that was a good year that’s just about the glasses and the drink the cutlery at the table can turn a potentially good evening into a disaster when you’re confronted with this array of silverware cutlery sometimes it gets people confused your
Side plate will always be on your left hand side the rule of thumb when it comes to eating is you will always start with the cutlery or silver that’s on the outside and work your way in you have your side plate over here with your butter knife which we used to butter the
Bread then you’ll have an iphone fork for your starter which is the first dish that you will have then you have your soup spoon then you will have your main knife and fork for your main meal or your entree and then you will have The dessert spoon and fork or pudding spoon and fork for your dessert or your food one thing you shouldn’t do betty is do this at the table pick your teeth even when you’re doing this i know what’s going on behind there you’re picking your teeth your teeth should be picked or cleaned
In the restroom or the bathroom the final meal is usually the dessert or pudding just in case you forgot this are the tools for the last plate now you can easily avoid those clueless moments because that is what fine dining is all about the man should take care of
The bill but take care of the bill in a discreet fashion so don’t make a big deal out of it flashing cash betty chalo how things work

am glad i have seen this i have learned and i hare really ashamed so many people breaking the chicken bones
Man should take care of the bill. Man should let the woman get the best chair. Ooookey, I get it. Not in a million years will I not take the best chair, and not in a million years will I not command a woman to go halves on the bill. Kenyans are retrogressing, borrowing old fashioned ways from the victorian times. We leap technologically but retrogress socially!
the man should take care of the bill again! when will the ladies take care of the bill?
I have a big issue with all this Etiquette B.S, its foreign…One should just do what's comfortable for them and their fellow diners….I love how we africans at most use one fork and knife for everything, good conversation flows and we enjoy our meals…these countless rules make meal times a stiff affair…
It's 2013; it should always be whoever is in a position to foot the bill go ahead as long as both of you are comfortable. The idea of seeing, swirling, smelling, sipping and swallowing a wine in a restaurant is B.S. Just drink the goddamn wine.
I would disagree with this guy on the napkin part, If one is feasting on sloppy foods, for instance, spaghetti or ribs, placing a napkin on the lap isn't a good idea.
Hehehehehehe… Very funny.
Nkt!! Ati drinking soup!!! EAT!!! Soup is eaten.!!!
