Vids are in the G drop ladies and gentlemen here at wine bid we are finally hammered that’s right this is wine bid podcast all things wine value wine auction wine retail and just wine my name is Jeff murn with wine bids marketing team with me as always is Paul

Walker our expert of wine known around the world as the Kaiser of Claret that’s right Paul Paul and we’re gonna be in which is a I mean his title is app because we’re be talking today about France and everything we’ve got coming well not everything we’ve got but a lot

Of the really interesting things we’ve got coming to auction France I’m gonna jump just right into it I’m gonna go to Bordeaux because that’s where I usually start it’s at the top of my uh just it’s how my my list is organized let’s talk about it because we have some crazy

Bordeaux coming into auction this week like 45 lefit raw shield for $3,000 59 obrion for 4,500 bucks 61 puse for $7,000 my birthday’s coming out Paul oh you’re 61 you’re you’re you’re looking pretty good for 61 I mean I will I will being born in 61 I it was 81 I

Didn’t know it was 61 I thought it was 81 so 61 for we got a 67 deim for uh 90 945 we have four of those actually and there’s a ton of deim coming into auction like yeah just a bevy of dam really nice line of it yeah really nice

I also have my eye on this o5 leoville lcos for 245 I’m curious to see where that goes if it holds at 245 if it comes down and then like but if you’re gonna spend 245 Plus cost there’s also this n i mean it’s a different vintage but 19

Lamasan obrion for 275 which I actually didn’t think was crazy for the 19 lamaan obrion no there’s these more you know younger release bordo are still a lot of deals a lot of deals not in half bottle though as we mentioned in our earlier episode about all these half bottles

Getting bit up far beyond half the value of the 750 but for 750 is and for yeah for highend wine like L it’s it’s not you know they’re not crazy they’re not crazy not crazy you could go with a 95 Dew buo for 18 for for 195 we got six of those or

You could go with the 05 95’s always been high it’s always got big big scores got big scores well but then we’ve got the 05 D bukay mag for 470 which is that’s not cheap either right no it’s up there but it’s getting up the bukay is

Getting up there I actually the one the ones I was looking I was looking at this 08 CL which we have four of those they all have bids taking from 90 to 91 yeah there’s there’s a lot of 08 bordo in to which always has been kind of you know

Reasonable I remember well the Futures were for sale when you know the market was in turmoil so the prices on those Futures were were much much more reasonable than say for the 05s and other you know big vintages but I don’t know how well those wines have aged like

Overall I’d be interested to see like what some experts are saying about some of them but I I saw speaking of 08 there’s trol long Mondo for 100 bucks which I think is probably the most inexpensive from a good to Great vintage um that you can get for Chong Mundo so

Anyway yeah lots lots of there’s a kind of a smattering of O8 Bordeaux in this it’s weird because there’s like some really really old you know Banner vintage you know top tier stuff there’s like some n there’s 90 mantros which I always like to to mention because it’s

You know it’s such a star wine did you see this6 g l Ro for 165 one of them as a big yeah so like yeah there’s just everything under the sun this week and then like you said sweet wine too and and not just like serious vintages of DM

But there’s 58 which I’ve never really ever I don’t think I remember seeing at all but it’s it’s n it’s 710 so it’s you know quite a bit less than the 67 but probably not nearly as good and then there’s 75 which is a great vintage but not tremendously expensive it’s 505 for

Toen anyway and then they’re 79 toen another cam I haven’t tasted for 390 and then yeah 89 and 90 they’re like two like phenomenal vintages there’s there’s half bottles of 89 for 230 which I think is you know for most such a spectacular vintage it’s not horrifically expensive and then 90 full

Bottles for 340 which I don’t think are are too bad and there also 01 which again is probably the best vintage N1 in the last 25 years or so so uh and uh 2000 truway for uh we have two those for 29 yeah yeah yeah there’s there’s

There’s 2000 for 295 yeah it’s it’s I mean that’s that’s really really collectible I noticed sort of along that line there is 95 and 2010 lefur petruse um which no doubt will probably be you know exceeding 300 bucks in the future 95 is at 240 and the 2010 is right it’s

Right there it’s a 295 investment viice from Paul Walker well no no walk back don’t walk back I just I just speculate that these by by you hitting your your gym Cramer bye bye by God sound effects for please no I don’t associate with such nonsense let’s let’s head over to

Burgundy I only have a few things from burgundy wait a minute wait a minute I’m not done with with bordeau put the brakes on it for a second you rush through a little bit too quick I did want to mention there’s 90 Bo ofu which is another

Probably their most famous wine of all time because of the score and and it’s it is great wine if actually had it a couple times it’s phenomenal and the price remains quite high it’s at 570 actually 90 montros versus 90 BOS Duo would be a amazing lineup because they’re similarly priced and they’re

Both fantastic but another one that I thought was quite cool was 61 grula cost half bottles for 295 so you know phenomenally famous vintage of the 20th century and you know you won’t be paying petruse pricing for it so I thought that was kind of cool and the bottle I think

Looks in really really good shape I’m just looking at my list right now I’m not looking on the auction but um there’s a bunch of great opron yeah 90 95 96 98 200 20033 is actually relatively reasonable I had that wine a few years ago and it was it was

Excellent it was very very very good 90 ter rotab um caught my eye as well you don’t don’t see that wine very often that’s at 290 yeah just an amazing array of bordo this week 83 Margot 2000 Margot 2000 muton which is just very expensive

You know next to a lot of the other 2000 wines but it it is good there’s also the fness 1993 with the illegal BST label on it for collectors out there illegal why is that illegal well they made two versions there was a there’s a version

With a you know a nude young lady on it and then there’s a version that the government decreed you know was acceptable for us drinkers which has nothing on it and so that you don’t often see the BST label it’s it’s called BST because he was the artist uh anyway

I think the you know the BST label is worth a little bit more for whatever reason the bis label is the one that had the nude lady on it that was unacceptable for American drinkers correct correct it was unacceptable for the American government not for you know

They didn’t want anyone under the of 18 seeing or drinking that wine anyway anyway that yeah I just want to mention two there’s 2,000 Chael which is you know harder to find I would argue than the uh Flagship wine and considerably less expensive so that’s probably a great great bottle at 115 and

Then similarly there’s 2020 um La CL or I think I think it’s CL to opron it’s the it’s like the second or third label of opron and it’s the white which is quite quite rare and it’s under 100 bucks I think it’s like got a bid on it it’s like 76 or

Something anyway so I was like to bring up those you know second and other labels of of bordo so let’s Okay move on you know what 06 you have shut to C Town mags for 400 which I didn’t think was terrible it’s what we’re gonna have to

Catch you up we got to go to burgundy Paul all right all right train is leaving train is leaving you’re gonna have to hitchhike if you don’t get on this train to burgundy Paul okay VCC don’t don’t miss out on the VCC in this week because relatively reasonable

Relatively reasonable 235 for the 19 all right all right all about VCC ever since I introduced it him to I’m I’m glad to hear I’m really glad to hear that let’s uh so to me I felt like look I didn’t I didn’t I just want to correct my pron it is

CL it does have an accent auu over it so anyway yeah now we you know what I I’m glad you did that cuz I was gonna have to correct you I was embarrassing for you let’s talk burgundy for a second and I think what’s really cool about this

Week with burgundy and I’m gonna mention three things that I saw but I want you to take the Reigns here because I felt like this week there was a lot of value burgundy in the auction like oftentimes we’ll see a week where it’s like everything’s like $500 or above or

They’re like most of the stuff you know a lot of the good stuff but this week there was a ton of stuff that was under the $200 mark under the $100 Mark even a lot of stuff sub 50 and I thought a lot of it was really interesting I’ll say

Like one I was looking out with this 07 Roy charms chambertin Tre Vine uh which has a bid on it taking from 230 240 20’s vintage 07 interesting 2010 Paul perno pul m f t for 110 this 06 this one is super sketch but I thought it was interesting

That there’s an ‘ 06 Lou Michelle shlo grown crew for 75 bucks right yeah Lou Michelle Louis Michelle wines are amazing they’re really really good really underappreciated auction but for $75 for a I mean okay6 maybe is not the best year it’s a steel that’s a Ste that

Seemed like a phenomenal deal to me for 7 it’s not I mean it’s the as a producer they’re not you know it’s not considered to be in the same realm as you know some of the other very well-known producers but it’s it’s it’s it’s good wine and

Yeah that’s a that’s a steal four for I’m surprised there aren’t any bids and it’s there four bottles available so yeah if you try like CL for less than 100 bucks that’s the way to do it yeah look if you want to try something like

CL with with some age on it I mean what are you g to pay like $200 $300 for one of the top producers right so this this is oh you play a lot more than that for you know depending on the name sure depending on the name right but you can

Get it for as cheap as couple hundred bucks 3 hundred bucks maybe yeah fev fev is probably somewhere you know in the 200 range I would imagine I mean but yeah that’s that’s that’s a steel that’s a steal I mean it’s an incredible Vineyard it’s a great great source and I

Mean the the ratings too it’s got It’s got some if you care it’s got some really good scores so pen drop I’m dropping my pen Paul beat I just introduced that that stuck out to me that stuck out to me very quickly because I I thought you know what the

Heck this is this is great deal so I’m sure it get I’m sure people will go after it that or did I like did I introduce you to this I feel like you’re welcome thank me L yes i’ never heard of shab before I met Jeff me

With a bottle of 61 forr I thought sh was that you know that sweet stuff you get from Central Valley [Laughter] all right you want me to um take over here because there’s a lot of good stuff yeah yeah take the rains all right yeah

I know I don’t want to sound like I’m just rattling off names but there are actually some really really interesting really cool stuff that we don’t see very often 1990 Andre Andre card from r malur that was one of the first balls that caught my eye because it starts with a

But anyway 90 cat yardo Romany malur very very cool um not cheap but very that’s a that’s a rare one uh there’s 2020 an Borgo Blanc fantastic fantastic chardet 25 bucks so there you go uh 2020 Beno a borgon aligot with unpronouncable name anti I don’t know how to say that

But anyway 50 bucks for that 2020 marree Corton charine so some great 2020 whites um 90 Bard La Roman this is wine that now I think who is it the count Li belir has the entire Vineyard but back in the in the day Bard uh owned it I don’t know

If they had all of it but anyway that’s a rare one 90 Roman for 980 also Bard you know considerably less expensive than than Le so that’s a cool that’s a cool bottle O2 CIU V Romy uh it’s the village but you know great great vintage over 20

Years fantastic 90 bucks like you said a lot of great wines under $100 there’s some doad dois K and doad as well V doad an Gro K show 98 I thought for 210 was very very cool bottle there’s 05 CL Lombre there’s some danan lose clo from

08 that wasn’t expensive 9948 sherod for 275 there’s l Mar clo from 09 for 140 which I thought was again you know reasonable to try something from gr crew and a phenomenal vintage it’s got you know at least 10 years on it almost 15 actually yeah 15 years now so that

Should be fantastic and again you know 140 bucks now on the flip side there is moonray esto from 1995 for 750 there’s also 91 May CH reach board if you really want to go big but you know this was right after the omry era and you know

Very very tricky to find those wines especially from 91 and going back even further 69 maram charm Shaman you know amazingly right vintage and that’s 100 bucks so if you know somebody from you know 1969 that’s a great great great way to try a gron crew you know burgundy

Again I don’t know domain maram at all but it looks interesting it’s $100 you’re not g to break the bank some yeah it’s very very cool 83 Trae shameran for 350 uh let’s see there’s some s there’s so whites I know there’s concerns about premature oxidation with especially etan

So but the colors look great they obviously pass inspection uh there are things you can read online about premature oxidation if you want to really get into it but in any event there’s some Bard there’s some M Shay from 04 uh for 640 not you know not

Cheap but Mont R is never cheap uh s m sh k09 for 14 I didn’t think was terrible there’s some jeante Pono wines which I think are delicious and not terribly expensive 96 charms 99 charms uh 05 charms for 185 again you know like Jeff said a lot of really really really

Cool wines for not crazy crazy prices uh 99 gilan BAU sham I don’t think I’ve seen 90 any 90s gilan BAU wines hardly at all so uh that’s a that’s another Rarity 09 g l prier for under 100 bucks I thought wasn’t bad there’s some mun we

Don’t need to you know mention the prices but always like to mention that that wi’s in the auction Village shamble M 18 and also the there’s a six-pack of the CL Marshal 18 which is arguably sort of an entry-level price for for munier uh 93 Jean Grio new Sor like budau I

Thought was very interesting also 120 not not terribly expensive uh JJ confr K2 for 210 there’s a 61 dren bone shampo which I thought was really wild bone red from drwan from 1961 for 235 again you know very very aged and sort of famous Vintage Wines here for Not Crazy Prices

Now you know they’re not going to be like Rome kti or whatever but still it’s it’s it’s a way to try wines from these you know ancient vintages if you will or older vintages that are not crazy expensive there’s some lasor big batch of it actually looks like somebody got a

Great allocation in their there’s some 19 and 20 Boron Blanc obviously on the lower end and then there’s some J Al rard on the much higher end of the price range uh Jed there’s a J Bone PR Cru celebration botle from 09 which is really really really tasty that’s I’ve

Had it wi like many times and it’s still excellent It’s still just got tons of fruit it’s really Del delicious um 85 bucks for that 14 sh close on Jack I thought wasn’t terrible at 160 let’s see there’s a bunch of Lucan Lan wines a bunch of gr Crews including CL Bez from

06 CL Ro CL Anon Corton Blanc which you don’t see every day 05 Corton Charlamagne as well there’s Mazi Mero perer from multiple vintages 09 and 2002 and 2010 so just a fantastic lineup of Lan stuff there’s a single or excuse me three BT of lefar bone grevo 2 which

Caught my eye for 120 again amazing early you know you know 200000 vintage it’s got at least 20 years on it now so great example there uh 99 mon mun reboard not going to be cheap but it’s still you know from an incredible red vintage um 780 you mentioned that perno

Fer saw that as well Pier Moray there’s perers from from Pier Moray for 260 some FL to me Corton brand 08 at 225 there’s a batch of seimon bees wines which are steadily creeping up so these I I suspect these are all probably going to go over 100 eventually but anyway

There’s still quite a few under 100 the 12 Maran is 60 the 10 uh Forno is 85 124 no is 704 see that’s different one anyway see these um wines there are some great great bone Reds really really really good and then looks like yes I think my

Last pick is Van Mero Le perier because you know it’s a big nego producer but to try Mero perier 20 years old for 80 bucks is not that easy to do yeah just a lot of really really cool you know I hate to say it but value wines from

Burgundy uh this week so anyway those were those are my picks take it home for for us finish up with the r okay yeah now the rone I have to say was phenomenally interesting to me this week there’s a lot of really really cool stuff um new and old new school old

School all kinds of things there’s like a array of the shim the shatu sinon collaboration and there’s 178 15 16 20 which I think just came out I think the 20 came out like a week or two ago there’s Quon there famous producers from you know Northern Rome from K Quon gu V

K Tai from 1999 for 65 thought was very interesting there’s Mor KU Rena 98 there’s 998 Solitude for 35 bucks I thought that was a great deal for something that’s got you know from a great vintage 20 what is it 25 plus years on it 2000 pigo 20 yeah pigo

Reserve 65 bucks didn’t think that was a bad deal some J coat Roe not crazy crazy crazy expensive not cheap but starting at 185 and going all the way to 550 for the 01 for the C Brun I should say uh 2000 CL Caillou like CS quartz if you

Will 55 bucks that’s really really tasty shout enough there’s some clo Caillou Reserve 05 for 150 there’s a trio of going on San Joseph which probably I mean I I feel like this wine you know it’s shot way way up in price over the last few years but I feel like it’s not

It’s not really going for too much more than you know than what it is now 15’s at 160 the 16s at 160 the 10’s at 205 so yeah I mean they’re not cheap but really really really good wines and they’re not really going through the roof like some

Other things there’s some gigal kro the the laas as everybody likes to say la londone la mul and La Turk from 9903 and5 there’s some gang off coat Roe don’t see that every day from 1995 quite a you know 30y old wine there almost anyway for

175 and then there’s another batch of uh shave veritage which you know we just saw a crazy batch of it I think just a week or two ago but there’s a whole new 91 yeah 91 serious price anyway buy 93 for 310 it’s a lot less not the same wine

But anyway uh really cool array of of both white and red from shave uh some champe Co Ro producer I’m not familiar with but interesting because it goes back to 12 there’s also 17 there’s Jean Michelle coras Marell interesting label there’s bener Co Roa doam for 450 which is wild that stuff

Was not terribly expensive a few years ago oia also some really really expensive oia the the Bell Ln from 98 355 but then also younger vintages there’s 99 of1 Cobo te’s for a little less 125 for the 99 then there’s some usio shat mon 98 at 90

SO3 85 and then this other producer of sh I’ve always been kind of interested to try but never had is the r and mun sa there’s a there’s the Blanc majis it’s called from 09 at 100 and then there’s the 2010 red Omnia or yeah omia excuse

Me at 120 it’s a bunch of sorell Armitage uh starting in 98 or excuse me 88 8889 to 98 2000 then of four tar Ronco Roe there’s quria don’t see all the time from 07 so yeah just a just a really cool array of R stuff this week for sure so yeah

That’s those were my uh my selections let’s really quickly run around France the rest of France bouet we’ve got some interesting stuff a bunch of uh B coming in all the way from you know Marcel laier morang to domain de dour uh all the way to Claud R Riot riette I don’t

Know yeah there’s a bunch of that clet that one’s hard to say w yet there’s a bunch of that so if you’re interested in play there’s a bunch of interesting BL stuff almost all of it’s like under 50 bucks right so so really good prices there um yeah the the D

Travs are like to me like great deals because there like the special kuet have the wax stops on them and there’s like the the flurry old Vines the tucon Som CU V for 35 bucks for the 16 that’s that’s a steel that Wine’s got to be excellent and that’s you know that’s not

Expensive and also those those C wot wines the flurry the CET and I don’t know what that means like if it’s like extra Barrel aging on it or something but $31 you know that’s one I think that’s one of the higher end cuvet for that wine but yeah really really good

Deals really good deals uh some cool shamps coming into the auction um 97 Salon 06 tattinger uh tat con the champagne blong to i o or L col just a bunch of really interesting CH t uh coming into auction a bunch of interesting stuff from Champagne from the langad hold on a

Minute hold on I want to mention a couple of Champagnes while we have a second yeah go for it Beno yeah Beno I saw that pop in this week which we do not see very often KU laru de it’s got a bid looks like at 76 there’s some bares

18 um Le Bard a couple of those at bids at 96 Yeah you mentioned charton taer belong to Noir there yeah the again AL U sort of all over the map as far as pricing it’s hard to say like what’s what but V Premier crew is at 91 and

Then the the gr crew VP multiv vintage I think it’s got discouragement dates on the site anyway 145 there’s some Ur FR brute and Stant which I’ve never seen before producer I don’t know um 96 KW 82 Crystal actually looks really really cool great color on

That there’s a bunch of margay like all the different shyaman labels this appeals to natural wine fans for sure there’s Ros and then Shaman 12 15 16 all kinds of stuff uh M Eon Ros m still seems like a great deal to me it hasn’t

Really gone up in price um the Ros Fus rosé is at 45 and there’s three of those there’s another producer I never heard of Natalie F Kua Val cor for 50 bucks there’s a rup lawah 13 vintage uh brute Nour so that’s a zero do for 65 you

Mentioned UL colan there’s a bunch of UL colan Stuff prices are obviously still very very high for those spending on discouragements and designation there’s mayair looks like myair and then there’s oh yeah so you were you were about to go to another region and I’ll jump the gun

On that too and say there’s Bellard sparkling another producer that’s getting a lot of attention sadly due to the passing of the proprietor but anyway 13 bellart uh tear mon Blanc brute zero uh for 60 bucks so that’s kind of an interesting champagne sparkling wi in s

In the langon we got a few bottles coming including an 0 1982 Chateau de gor Min for 35 yeah yeah and some 16 M Julian pod haral for 35 bucks as well but some interesting stuff from the longan from the laah a couple bottles of 07 hu V

Brute uh so some sparkling um um domain hu oh yeah I saw those I’ve never had theing wi have you had it$ $30 yeah have you had it not we’ve got some uh roer 05 roer um we’ve got some old wa wait what what rer

CLA rer CL rard CLA rer rard CL yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah there’s 05 yeah I saw another one I mean there’s a lot of Cl rard in this week but um and then some uh some giberto uh coming in as well including a

2010 giberto B mag for 230 uh I saw that the garto this is like one of those producers that’s gaining it keeps you know getting more and more expensive and it was a MAG in I think even of the 2010 couple weeks ago and it got bid way

Up yeah it got b b way up so yeah this one starting at 230 which I I’m pretty sure that’s where it hammered last time yeah I picked that as well and there’s some jool Le wines too I noticed there’s savir from Jolie which is always quite

Sought after 16 and 18 not terribly expensive 55 for the 16 and 45 for the 18 so now let’s head over to provance if if John malovich is listening to this podcast we have a bunch of Domaine tampier coming into auction 95 Bund yeah I knew you were gonna mention the

Tomier no do you see there’s there is5 migua 85 migua now that’s that’s a tough one to replace right there yes yes tomier that often you’re not going to find those every day for for 175 and then there’s a bunch of demain Tron yeah there’s a there’s a what 95 through

Looks like 96 9803 yeah yeah a bunch of Tron and multiple bottles looks like of the 98 and the 03 so not it’s not just you know a single bottle like we usually see yeah no no it’s a it’s a bunch of a bunch of stuff and with that I’m gonna

Put a cork in it you call it all right I’m we’re done I’m sticking a for finished all right ladies and gentlemen this has been wine bids finally hammered podcast discussing all the things coming well not all the things but a lot of things coming in from France this week
