It is estimated that thousands of visitors are pouring millions into the local economy as a result of the Ironman triathlon on Sunday in Sacramento. More than 3,000 athletes from 48 states and 53 different countries are competing in the 140.6-mile race, according to Visit Sacramento. “Obviously you have the participants, but they bring friends, they bring family. They want witnesses to see that they’ve done an Ironman, and all those people will pour just over $15 million into our economy,” said Mike Testa, president and CEO of Visit Sacramento. It is a big boost to cap off a busy month.
