In January 2018 we visited the Alsace region in France.
A few years ago we had already visited Strasbourg which is the most popular city in the region and therefore we decided to visit a smaller town along the Alsatian wine route. On Instagram I discovered the town Ribeauvillé which looked very nice and is just 5 minutes from Riquewihr and about 20 minutes from Colmar.
Ribeauvillé is situated very good if you want to stay in the Alsace. Hotel and B&B prices are very affordable. For around 50 EUR you can find a room with breakfast included.
They say that the scenery in the Disney movie Beauty and the Beast was inspired on Ribeauvillé, if you visit the town you will realise why people say that.
On a mountain next to the town there are 3 castle ruins which are absolutely worth seeing: Castle Saint-Ulrich, Castle Girsberg and Castle Haut-Ribeaupierre.
Afterwards we went to Colmar which is the capital of the Alsatian wine where we enjoyed a typical dinner.
