A 17-year-old delivery driver known as Nahel M was shot dead by a police officer on Tuesday in a Paris suburb.
More than 6,000 people marched in his memory.
In Nanterre, the suburb of Paris where the teenager was killed, protesters torched cars, barricaded streets and hurled projectiles at police following a peaceful vigil.
