Emmanuel Macron has caused a fizz after downing a beer in one go in the changing rooms of French rugby union champions Toulouse.
The French president performed a “down in one” after attending the final of the Top 14 championship on Saturday at the Stade de France outside Paris.
After the match, in which Toulouse snatched a dramatic 29-26 victory over European champions La Rochelle, Mr Macron paid a visit to the victors in their changing rooms and was handed a bottle of beer.
Noisily egged on by the players, Mr Macron – known more as a wine enthusiast unlike predecessor Jacques Chirac who was partial to Corona – proved to be a good sport, effortlessly polishing off the bottle and slamming it back on the counter.
