French Onion Soup has a special spot in my heart. Specifically, my mom use to make it as part of an elaborate Christmas dinner. Honestly, I don’t think she served it to us at any other time of the year which is probably what made it so special.

Unfortunately a traditional French Onion Soup wouldn’t be allowed on my diet because of the cheese (I don’t eat dairy!) and bread (I don’t eat gluten!) – however, the rest of the soup is fine and completely vegan. Also, with a few small changes I can get something very similar with vegan cheese and gluten free bread!

As an added bonus, I show you how to make a fun snack to set out during your next holiday party. For years, cranberries were one of those things I didn’t know how to make. Each year I would open the can of gelatin cranberry for Thanksgiving and call it a day. However, I found a really great way to eat cranberries and display them. My only hesitation with this recipe is the amount of sugar. It is borderline obnoxious – but I allow it as a one-a-year snack!

I hope you enjoy making the soup and cranberries on your own! Let me know how it turns out. I would love to hear about your own cooking adventures.
