Domaine Margelleau was founded in 1938 by George Pieaux, he has 10 hectares of vine. George left his vineyards to his sons in 1955, they each ran their own business untill they both retured and left their business to Bruno & Jean Paul – the estate was reunited under the name Domaine du Margelleau.
Today Bruno and Jean-Paul farm 35 hectares of vines, mostly on classic Liore Tuffeau soils, which combine limestone, clay and chalk. The Pieaux family’s vineyards mostly have a Pouilly Fume-like classic silex (flint) stone
