Terro Square with Bartholdi Fountain and City Hall – Fresco of Lyon – Plaсe Saint John with Fountain Saint-John – Catholic Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist – Place Bellecour – Lyon Funicular – Basilica of Our Lady of Fourviere and Esplanade – Metallic Tower of Fourvière:
– Lafayette bridge (Pont Lafayette)
– Terro Square (Place des Terreaux) – Large public plaza with significant architecture & famed fountain, classified a World Heritage site.
– City Hall of Lyon (Hôtel de Ville de Lyon) – This stately 17th-century landmark with 2 courtyards & an ornate interior now serves as city hall.
Bartholdi Fountain (Fontaine Bartholdi) – Dramatic fountain by the famous French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi, unveiled in 1892.
Museum of Fine Arts of Lyon (Musée des Beaux-Arts de Lyon) – Art museum in former 17th-century abbey, with ancient & modern paintings, sculptures & artifacts.
– Fresco of Lyon (Fresque des Lyonnais) – This huge, trompe-l’oeil painting on the side of a building depicts 30 well-known people from Lyon.
– St. Vincent Footbridge (Passerelle Saint-Vincent)
– Old Town – Vieux Lyon sits on the River Saône quayside, overlooked by Renaissance-era mansions with hidden courtyards and terracotta-tiled roofs. The medieval Cathédrale Saint-Jean-Baptiste is noted for its ornate astronomical clock, while the Movies & Miniature Museum showcases scale models by miniaturist Dan Ohlmann.
