The first wine we will try comes from the Ancient Variety Limnio. The Variety Limnio originated from the island of Limnos and the wine comes from Halkidiki, near Thessaloniki, in Sithonia, and has 12 months of aging in French oak barrels. It’s a soft, light red wine.
The second wine comes from northern Greece and the region of Naoussa. The variety is Xinomavro which means “sour + black”. Even though it has acidity and tannins, its color is not very black, it’s lighter. It can age for more than 20 years in the bottle.
The last wine comes from the Peloponnese and the region of Nemea, which is the biggest red wine zone in Greece.
The grape is Agiorgitiko which means Saint George, and in Greek mythology, they say that Hercules killed the lion of Nemea, so the blood of the Lion made the grapes red.
