French President Emmanuel Macron and Ivory Coast President Alassane Ouattara attended a gala dinner, Saturday, December 21, in the country’s main city, Abidjan, as part of Macron’s two-day visit.
The two leaders were joined by their wives, French first lady Brigitte Macron and lady Dominique Ouattara.
The dinner came after West Africa’s monetary union agreed with France to rename its CFA franc the Eco, and cut some of the financial links with Paris that have underpinned the region’s common currency since its creation in World War Two. (Reuters)
