Did you know that when planting a new grapevine, we use vegetative propagation, not seeds? We essentially clone the parent plant by taking cuttings from it before grafting them onto rootstock and planting. So again, we do not get a Cabernet Sauvignon from planting Cab Sauv seeds, rather we select a certain Cabernet Sauvignon plant or plants based on ideal characteristics (higher-yielding, ripening times, etc.) and make clones.
Wine is far from simple, eh?
The new Herzog Clone #6 comes from a prized Cabernet Sauvignon lineage that thrives in Sonoma County’s Chalk Hill region. It’s bold, a beaming example of variety with notes of blackberry, cassis and herbs. Add in the 21 months of aging in new French oak and we get a beautiful, complex wine that will stand the test of time.
Pair with bold flavors and enjoy every sip!
Now available in all Moishe’s Sip Wine Club boxes, the very special Herzog Clone 6. If you haven’t signed up already, we still have a few bottles left!
