Home Cooking Sessions: Meat-Free Croque Monsieur with @quorn_uk Yorkshire Ham Style Slices. The classic French sandwich with a twist. Full recipe below 👇🏽🔥 – 1. Grate up 300g of Gruyère, set aside 2. Slice off two thick slices of sourdough and toast in some butter on med-high till golden 3. Béchamel: add 3tbsp unsalted butter to a pan on med heat and once melted, add 2tsp AP flour – mix till smooth ~1min 4. Stream in 250ml whole milk little by little till smooth, then lower the heat and add 3tbsp grated Gruyère and mix till melted 5. Season with sea salt, black pepper, and a grate of nutmeg, then set aside 6. Assembly: lather on the béchamel to one slice of toasted sourdough followed by some grated Gruyère 7. For the ham, I used the Quorn Yorkshire Ham Style Slices 8. Top the ham with a little more béchamel, followed by more Gruyère 9. Spread some Dijon mustard across the second slice of sourdough, then close the lid 10. Add a final lather of béchamel to the top, followed by the rest of the Gruyère, chives and black pepper 11. Throw this under the grill or into the middle oven at 180c for 15-20 mins until oozing and bubbly – you can blowtorch it for more colour 12.
