Our wine Director, David Allen MW tastes Chateau La Fleur-Petrus Pomerol 2014.
The estate lies in the eastern portion of Bordeaux’s Pomerol appellation, and is widely regarded as one Pomerol’s top estates. The wine is Merlot-dominant, and is known for its finesse, elegance and age-worthiness.
The estate vineyard extends to just under 19 hectares (46 acres) and is planted chiefly to Merlot (91 percent) with six percent Cabernet Franc and three percent Petit Verdot. The core vineyard lies across the road from Château Petrus, adjacent to Château Lafleur.
The property was bought by Jean-Pierre Moueix in 1953.
