The “French Croustade” – Vegan Recipe
For my first video, I picked a “Croustade”, with my own twist on it.
It’s delicious, and easy too !
Here’s the recipe :
* Ingredients :
– 5 Apples
– 2 Puff Pastry Doughs
– 30 gr (1/4 cup) Vegan Butter
– 1 tablespoon of olive oil
– 1/2 small package of vanilla sugar
– 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
– 70 gr (1/3 cup) of brown sugar
– 2 tablespoons of non-dairy milk (here, soy)
– 1 teaspoon of agave syrup
* Method :
– Peel 5 apples
– Dice them and place them in a woke or pan of your choice
– Add the brown sugar, the butter and the olive oil
– Cook at medium heat (make sure to cover the top with a lid) until the apples are soft and/or melt in your mouth while stirring every once in a while
– Before the end, add the vanilla extract
– Don’t forget to preheat your oven at 180°C or 356°F
– Get the first dough ready (make sure to lift it off the parchment paper first so it doesn’t stick) then place it in a tin before poking it with a fork, set aside for now
– In a small bowl, mix the milk and the agave syrup, then set aside as well
– Once the apples are cooked, strain them for at least 5 minutes then pour them evenly on the dough and sprinkle what’s left of the vanilla sugar package on top
– Take the second dough and like before, lift it off before cutting a big circle on the inside
– Put the circle on the apples and close any gaps between the doughs
– Use the scraps of the second dough to cut little or small shapes and decorate the pie however you like
– Take the milk-agave mix and brush it on top of your pie
– Put it in the oven for 30 minutes
Remember to wait (at least) 5 to 10 minutes before serving it.
It’s usually tastier at room temperature, with or without vegan ice cream.
Bon appétit !
