The former Alcazar Hotel is a sight to behold – a building that wouldn’t look out of place on the French Riviera or Mediterranean coast. It’s clear that no expense was spared in the construction of the Alcazar Hotel – the planners even included the world’s largest indoor swimming pool. Fast forward to the present day and the Alcazar Hotel is home to the Lightener Museum, St. Augustine City Hall, various shops, professional offices, and restaurants. Interestingly, the Cafe Alcazar dining room is housed in the deep end of the former luxury hotel’s swimming pool. Modifications were made to the floor of the pool to make it suitable for waiters, waitresses, and guests. Enjoying lunch at such a storied and unique location certainty makes patrons appreciate St. Augustine’s place in American history. #staugustine #florida #cafe
