La Ruchette Dorée is a traditional winery, situated in one of the prettiest corners of the Southern Rhone, and one which is dedicated to upholding the standards of the region and keeping some of the old ways alive in each and every bottle. Through their old-fashioned methods and dedication to flavour, character, and distinction, this winery has attracted plenty of attention and adoration in recent years, and once you taste a sip of their stunning blushing rosé, it really isn’t difficult to understand why.

La Ruchette Dorée is known primarily for its delicate rosé wines, which aim to express the unique nature of their terroir in the glass, and fly the flag for rosé wines from the Southern Rhone (to say there’s competition between the Rhone Valley and Provence would be something of an understatement). The terroir in question is every bit as spectacular as you’d imagine – these Grenache grapes grow among olive groves and lavender and rosemary fields, and there’s plenty of that characteristic southern French charm in every bottle. Using a range of traditional methods, such as hand-picking, gentle basket pressing, short maceration times, and eschewing malolactic fermentation means that La Ruchette Dorée wines manage to keep as much expression and character as possible.

Classic southern French rosé, with an emphasis on aromatic power and freshness. This is a blend of mostly Grenache, with small amounts of Syrah and Cinsault to round it out. Grapes are sourced from multiple vineyards dedicated to rosé production, where typical wild plants like lavender, rosemary and olives, are in abundance. These characters come through in the wine, although subtly, and help to balance out the ripe fruit characters of redcurrant and strawberry.
