French onion Soup
add Ingredients in order:
3 tbsp. butter
1 1/2 Large onion 1 1/2 to 2 cups of onion.
1/2 tsp salt, more later to taste if desire.
1/2 tsp ground black pepper, more later to taste if desire.
2 cloves of garlic, less if choose depending on your taste.
1/4 tsp oregano, less if choose depending on your taste.
1/4 basil, less if choose depending on your taste.
1/4 tsp thyme, less if choose depending on your taste.
1 bay leaf remove before add bread and cheese.
2 tbsp. flour
1/4 cup of red or white wine & 1 tbsp. sherry if available.
1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp tomato paste optional
24oz beef broth if available if not any broth or even water
then cook for at least 30 minutes.
this process including prep 1 hour 30 minutes.
If not using a broiler safe containers transfer soup into one or individual containers then add your bread and cheese. Broil a couple minutes till your cheese is golden brown or oven at 400*F middle rack.
couple baguette or French bread 1/2″ pieces, if you don’t have either any bread will do.
1/4 cup Gruyere cheese grated and Parmigiano Reggiano is traditionally, if you don’t have as me I’m using queso fresco and mild cheddar.
Servings: 2 to 4 double everything if serving more.
Cooking time 1 1/2 hour to 2 hours.
