We are on L this week for the LDW Alphabet Adventure so we chose Llama, a beautiful malbec from Mendoza, Argentina. It’s bright red ruby color, well structured and stylish. The vines are 100-year-old Malbec vines from their original French clones, planted at 3,300 feet elevation which is perfect conditions for producing powerful and elegant wines. The warm days are offset by cool nights which produces aroma and flavor while holding acidity.
The estate is Balasco de Baquedana in the Agrelo district of Lujan de Cuyo. Their viticulture is green with 100% irrigation fed by snowmelt.
This wine would pair deliciously with a grilled blue cheese burger or a fatty fish, like salmon.
As always, thanks for following along, and stay tuned for next week when we tackle M. Cheers!
