You officially don’t have to worry about what you’re going to have for breakfast on November 28th. For those of you that don’t know, that’s National French Toast day. What better day could there be to make this decadent French Toast Apple Pie on?

Matt has combined two of his favorite foods into one single, delicious breakfast concoction. To make this French Toast Apple Pie we are going to start by whipping up our apple pie filling. Heat up a large stainless steel pan on medium-high heat and add in the butter. Be extra careful not to burn your butter after adding it. Stir it frequently allowing it to melt down completely. Once melted stir in white sugar, brown sugar, lemon juice, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and a little nutmeg. Keep stirring as you add all of these together until you reach a consistency similar to what is seen in the video.

When you reach that golden consistency you need go ahead and add your apples to the mix. Matt has chosen to use Royal Galas for their sweet taste and crunchy texture. As you add in your apples keep stirring them as well ensuring that each piece is coated with brown sugar sauce. Keep stirring the contents of your pan and take your heat up just a bit. As you continue to stir the apples will break down into the sauce leaving you with what looks exactly like you would expect apple pie filling to look.

Now that our filling is looking done and delicious it’s time to make the French toast. In a medium sized bowl crack three eggs and beat them with a fork. Add a fair amount of milk to them and beat them again until it all mixes together well. Pour this out into a container similar to what you see in the video if you have one, if not just improvise. Heat your skillet up to medium and add a single pat of butter to it. Let that melt down for a short time and then dip your first two pieces of bread in the egg wash.

After a quick dip put them directly into your non-stick skillet. Cook them for 2-3 minutes per side, only flipping them once. Be aware that the second side is going to cook a little faster as your pan is going to be super hot by the time the first side is done. When you have compiled a big enough stack of French toast it’s time to get to the really fun part.

Let’s plate this amazing looking food! Take a piece of French toast and lay it flat. Add a layer of apple pie filling to the top of it, and top that with another slice of French toast and repeat until you have reached your desired height. Top your last layer of French toast with a small amount of apple pie filling and scoop a generous amount of whip cream on top of that. Lastly, feel free to pour as much or as little maple syrup as you see fit onto your creation.

As always thank you so much for watching. We hope you enjoyed this decadent breakfast recipe. Come back soon for more mouth-watering recipes straight from the Fidel Gastros kitchen to yours.
