The very simple French 75 cocktail is the namesake of a 75mm caliber quick-firing artillery piece used by the French from World War I. Like the gun, you have a couple of munitions options for your French 75.

Historically this cocktails’ base spirit was cognac, but nowadays gin is the more popular option. Either pair extremely well with the champagne. Try both and let me know which is your favorite. Try this one any time of the day. As an alternative to the brunch Mimosa or an evening celebration, this one is sure to have everybody saluting you for this one. Cheers.

1 oz Simple Syrup
¾ oz Lemon Juice
3 oz Dry Champagne or Sparkling Wine
