The “High Country” wines are those just upriver from Bordeaux. Believe it or not, though almost completely unheard of now (especially relative to the fame of Bordeaux), these wines were hot stuff in the 13th-14th centuries. Watch this for the sad story of how the wines of SW France went from internationally famous to buried in obscurity.
