1/3 cup orange liqueur
2/3 cup water
24 Margherite cookies

For the Mousse:
1 generous cup slivered almonds
1 cup super-fine sugar
2 sticks (1 cup) butter
3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips, melted in 1/4 cup hot coffee
1/3 cup orange liqueur
1 teaspoon almond extract
2 cup heavy cream, whipped to soft peaks
