UKAN is a new, but already rather famous project from Rioja from the fifth generation of winemakers, family Eguren. The Eguren family has been since 1870 dedicated to farming the vineyard and making some of the best wines in Rioja. Keeping the tradition alive, this knowledge has been transmitted from one generation to the next one, adapting it to the technological advances and always respecting the soil and the vine as the foundation of their wines. The first vintage of UKAN was characterised by the rain that fell during the year, especially in September when the grapes were almost fully ripen, postponing harvest to October. After the fermentation in open-top oak vats, and ageing for seventeen months, in may 2020 the single-vineyard wines were blended obtaining an elegant and balanced wine that shows the freshness of the year it was born in.
