We have selected two very unusual wines to close out a very unusual year! Both wines are excellent companions for family, friends and food!
As an aperitif for your holiday festivities, tickle your pallet with the Black Chook Sparkling Shiraz! Dry and sparkling, this lovely Australian Shiraz is excellent on it’s own or perfectly paired with bittersweet chocolate and charcuterie. This wine shows wonderful, smooth integrated fruit and a rich weighty texture across the palate. It is blended with a touch of younger vintage Shiraz bringing ripe juicy fruit characters to the finished product. Affordably priced, this sparkling red is sure to please.
The 2017 Joseph Cattin Gewurztraminer Vendanges Tardives is unlike anything we have featured in our Wine Club previously. This sweet wine is very generous and ample on the palate. The fatness of the wine gives volume and smoothness in the mouth. Fruit notes exotic are expressed with a fantastic sweetness and are enhanced with some spices at the end.
This beautiful French Gewurztraminer can be enjoyed alone or with desserts (custard, bananas flambéed with rum or pineapple fritters), foie gras, as well as spicy cheeses (old parmesan type). It could also pair with some spicy cuisines such as tandoori chicken or lacquered duck.
