Roche Bobois launches the 6th edition of its Design Awards competition in partnership with the Musashino Art University in Japan, giving students the opportunity to collaborate with the renowned international luxury furniture brand to design and prototype functional furniture or accessories that have the potential to be manufactured and brought to market. Driven by the theme “Old x New – New x Old”, students in their 4th year of Industrial, Interior and Craft design at the Musashino Art University created 25 design proposals, three of which have been chosen by Roche Bobois to present at its annual design review for consideration for production. In this video, the winners talk about their projects and design process.

The winning designs include the “Ori” console designed by Mr. Soichiro Tanaka, the “Maru” cocktail table designed by Mr. Ryohei Totsuka along with the “Toka” bookshelf and console designed by Ms. Sanako Osawa. Mr. Kentaro Takagi won for his dining table concept but as there was no possibility to produce it on an industrial scale, it has not been presented to the Roche Bobois network.
Mr. Shanshan Liu won the special mention from the Jury for his dining table and stools concept.
