DISCLAIMER ON STEINER’S ANTHROPOSOPHY: When discussing biodynamics and its’ beginnings you inevitably have to reference the creator of the movement, Rudolph Steiner. As briefly mentioned within the video, Steiner created the Anthroposophical Society and within that organisation many of Steiner’s racist and unsettling viewpoints can be unearthed. This is an educational wine video and is NOT designed to discuss the issues of anthroposophy (and there are many that can be noted). It has been created to try and provide a comprehensive study of biodynamics in agriculture and viticulture. I have still made a short reference to anthroposophy and to some of Steiner’s disturbing views in the video however. I did this as while I believe it is important to learn about biodynamics since it is accepted and practiced by many winemakers, grapegrowers (and other types of farmers) around the world today. It should also be acknowledged that this movement was created by an individual who held racist and other controversial views as documented in his writings and published works.
Our biodynamic series is not directly related to any wine course or qualification but you were certainly find this useful if you are studying your WSET L4 Diploma in Wines.
