The white Chenin Blanc grape hails originally from France’s Loire Valley but has established itself perhaps even more successfully in South Africa, where it has been grown for centuries. Stellenbosch-based Stellenrust has produced this single vineyard wine in barrel-fermented style, with nine months in total in French and Hungarian oak. The result – a toasty, nutty, creamy Chenin Blanc with bags of flavour: lemon, yellow plum, honeymelon and apple. This is a mouthfilling option to perfectly match pink-fleshed fish…provided you like a hint of oak!
