A recipe that brings back memories this Crispy cheesy ham rolls with sunset sauce was one of my childhood favorite made with simple ham rolls covered with a tomato based bechamel sauce and covered with cheese and broiled in the oven. you can serve it with pasta and it a great Kids friendly French recipe.

🧅🥕INGREDIENTS🥕🧅
Béchamel sauce:
500 ml milk
30 grams flour
30 grams unsalted butter
1 small onion
1 chicken stock cube
1 small bay leaf
salt and pepper
a pinch of nutmeg

For the rest:
6 slices of good quality ham (can be smoked if you like)
100 ml of heavy whipping cream
up to 5 tablespoons of good quality tomato sauce (like a pasata)
100 grams grated cheese ( or less if you just want a bit of cheese crust)
1 teaspoon of butter to coat the gratin dish.

1 saucepan
roux whisk:
a normal one works fine too but this was interesting to use

Cooking temperature:
bake in the oven at 180 degrees c for 15 minutes ( top oven element on to crisp up the top)
