Dear Friends,
We have received a phenomenal response to our August release of 2018 Rhone wines. Both of our 2018 Syrah wines from Bien Nacido Vineyard and Larner Vineyard are sold out. For all of you who purchased them and/or the other Rhone wines: Thank You!
This week, on September 18th, we are celebrating International Grenache Day. I love Grenache! I love it for many different reasons, which I would like to explain in this video:
Our Grenache wines from the profound 2018 vintage are still available. Included below are tasting notes/reviews of these wines.
Thanks to all of you for the support!
With Love and Gratitude,
Paul
2018 “Lumiere”, Grenache, Larner Vineyard, Ballard Canyon
This vibrant Larner Grenache is refreshing and refined, with notes of bing cherry and fine French leather on the nose. Fresh blackberries and nuances of baking spices work seamlessly together to create a dry medium-plus bodied wine. This wine is beautiful now, but can also be enjoyed as it evolves over the next 2-3 years to unveil its full potential and it will last in your cellar for 10+ years.
2018 “Ora et Labora”, Grenache, Bien Nacido Vineyard, Santa Maria
“All destemmed Grenache aged 22 months in 30% new barrels, the 2018 Ora et Labora Bien Nacido Vineyard offers up a juicy bouquet of Bing cherries, black raspberries, sappy herbs, licorice, and ground pepper. Nicely textured, medium to full-bodied, and silky on the palate, with great tannins, drink bottles over the coming 7-8 years.” Jeb Dunnuck, July 2020
2018 “Space Cadet”, Syrah/Grenache, Santa Barbara
“2018 Space Cadet checks in as an 80/20 split of Syrah and Grenache (I think there’s a splash of Viognier in the blend) that spent 22 months in 57% new French oak. Stunning black raspberries, charred meats, blueberries, spice, toast, and hints of chocolate all emerge from the glass, and it’s full-bodied and has a plush, sexy texture, sweet tannins, and a great finish. Drink it over the coming 7-8 years.” Jeb Dunnuck, July 2020
