To Acquiesce . . .
Acquiesce – verb: to surrender, to become quiet. Acquiesce has become our mantra — to submit to nature, to yield to the vineyard, to acquiesce to the grapes so they present their own true character. Attention to detail reigns here with sustainable vines that are lightly watered, grapes that are handpicked and then whole cluster pressed to create wines that are both classic and traditional. For a memorable experience, these food loving wines are paired with small bites in our 100 year-old converted barn tasting room.
Susan Tipton, Owner/Winemaker
Susan Tipton is the owner and winemaker of Acquiesce Winery & Vineyards in Acampo, California. Acquiesce is Lodi’s only all white wine winery featuring estate grown Rhône varietals in a sea of Zinfandel grapes. Her tasting room resides in a 100 year old barn on her 18 acre property surrounded by wine grapes.
Inspired by her first glass of white Châteauneuf-du-Pape wine, Susan began planting her estate grapes in 2008 which include Picpoul Blanc, Grenache Blanc, Clairette Blanche, Bourboulenc, Viognier and Roussanne. The combination of Lodi’s fertile soils and these select white Rhone grapes which are hand-picked, whole cluster pressed and fermented in stainless steel have created quite a buzz — Acquiesce Winery now in its 9th year has garnered numerous Double Gold, Gold and Best of Class awards and has the distinction of Best Viognier in California in 2016
Our Estate Vineyard
We currently grow 10.5 acres of our white Rhône style varietals. Our vines are sourced from the famed Château de Beaucastel of Châteauneuf du Pape, France and they show a timeless elegance fused with great fruit expression courtesy of Lodi’s sandy soils and Mediterranean climate. We follow the LODI RULES for Sustainable Winegrowing which is California’s original sustainable viticulture program. Our grapes are hand picked, hand sorted and whole cluster pressed. Attention to detail reigns here!
Our Secret Ingredient
Terroir – Our sandy loam soils nourish our vines which started as cuttings from the famed Chateau Beaucastel in Chateauneuf du Pape, France. Our estate 18 acre vineyard property is meticulously maintained by our vineyard crew, pruning just before bud break, shoot thinning, leaf removal and crop thinning at verasion. Our warm summer days and cool evenings balance the temperatures while encouraging ripeness.
The Delta Breeze
The Lodi wine region is known for some very warm summer days, but the Delta Breeze kicks in during the evenings, cooling down the grapes. Our warm days help to ripen the grapes and the Delta Breeze prevents them from overheating during the summer.

2019 Grenache Blanc – the flagship variety at Acquiesce, our Grenache Blanc is a crowd pleaser because of its food-friendly personality: it pairs with an impressive variety of foods! With aromas of apricot and green apple, it’s full-bodied on the palate but balanced with a bracing minerality. We’re including a jar of L’Épicurien Confit of Violet Flowers–if you’ve visited our tasting room before, you may have enjoyed this with some fresh goat cheese on a cracker paired with the Grenache Blanc.
2019 Viognier – Reminiscent of honeyed tangerine and peach, this wine is crisp and dry, yet round on the palate. It has beautiful aromas of violets and exotic spice notes, followed by a long, dry finish. We’re including another L’Épicurien treat–Mango Chutney! The subtle curry notes in the chutney are matched perfectly with Viognier’s tropical flavors of honeyed tangerine and peach.
2019 Grenache Rosé – made from 100% Grenache Noir, the only red grape we grow on our estate, our dry Provençal-style rosé has aromas and flavors of watermelon, strawberry and lime zest. It’s versatile as a food-friendly wine that pairs well with just about anything (and is also delicious on its own!). You’ll receive a jar of Homestead Farms’ Cherry Pepper Jelly, which echoes the cherry and spice/pepper notes you’ll taste in the wine.
