Living history weekend, for the birthday of our beloved members, Iulia, Alice and Ionut!
The theme: hunters’ feast!
Commissioned by the nobleman Ioannes de Banya (Ionut Iliescu), the hunting party took down a handsome stag, par force, with the participation of magister Andreas de Pechetszeg (Andrei Farcas), notary of the voyvode, the hunters of Saint Hubert’s Society (Benedek Tamas, Delian Murgoi, Ovidiu Les) and notable ladies of the vicinity (Iulia Arone, Alice Canter, Maria Baciu), even some guests from the modern times.
After the chase, huntmaster Andreas Barthaffy (Andrei Prian) took his share of the deer’s numbles, gave the stomach and intestines to the berniers (kopónagyok) to feed to the hounds, then took to cutting up the finer parts of the game to cook himself, for the feasting men and women of rank.
He roast the venison in lard, then simmered it in good wine, until done. He then prepared the sauce and served the meat in bread bowls, with good dry wine and other fine brews, so the hunters feasted until late in the night, before retiring to their encampments, accompanied by the song of the nightingales.
