How to make the Classic French 75 Cocktail
The august French 75 is proudly and properly positioned in the Pantheon of classic cocktails. The precise origins for this effervescent masterpiece are lost in time and to ravages of World War I, but the general creation for the French 75 is broadly accepted to stem from a wartime amalgamation combining French and British drinking culture and ingredients. Substituting champagne for the soda water from a Tom Collins resulted in a tipple with the kick of the French 75mm light field gun, perhaps the best thing to come from the Great War.

3/4 ounce Simple Syrup (1:1 by weight)
Sparkling Wine (to finish)
