Hi guys, today’s standard was composed by Henry Mancini for the Blake Edwards movie in 1962. The lyrics from Days of Wine and Roses were written by Johnny Mercer.
I’m playing the song on a vintage 1938 epiphone Deluxe that is exactly why people seam to look after those prewar epiphones.. the sound is punchy, super woody, precise, and the guitar is confortable to play (the feels easier to play than the one on my 1946 deluxe). You can compare how the different strings affects the sound, since today it’s strung with Jumbo King phosphore bronze strings gauge 12, which gives more attack than the thomastik flatwound 13 that she had on AS#43 “Skylark” posted a few weeks ago. You can hear it plugged in with the flatwounds on AS#50-1 “Indian Summer”. This guitar unfortunately is not mine, i’m just helping a friend sell it, if i didn’t have already a few Epiphones i would buy it for sure !
