Tom Carson sits down with James Halliday to discuss their shared love of DRC. Tom is chief winemaker and general manager of Yabby Lake on the Mornington Peninsula. Tom first met James Halliday in 1988 in the Yarra Valley. Post his Roseworthy winemaking degree, Tom worked with James at Coldstream Hills for three years as assistant winemaker. Their friendship has endured over the years over their shared love of Pinot Noir and the great wines of Burgundy, in particular Domaine de la Romanée-Conti.
James Halliday, Australia’s most eminent wine critic, is selling Domaine de la Romanée-Conti wines from his private cellar, valued at over $1,000,000.
His collection of 250 bottles of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti (DRC) – widely considered the world’s greatest wine producer – will make this auction the biggest of its kind in Australian history.
