Meadowcroft Wines Sonoma California

About
Meadowcroft Wines By Tom Meadowcroft

Meadowcroft is the namesake of Winegrower Tom Meadowcroft. The meaning of Meadowcroft is a fertile field or meadow and croft refers to a cultivated area that has been nurtured over time. The honeybee on the label symbolizes this conscientious work and the process of transformation from wine grapes into an outstanding wine.

A toast from the winemaker…

As the winemaker I am ever in the pursuit of creating wines infused with an explosive strength of diverse character that strike a soulful chord. The zeal of creativity with which I am driven is inspired by the rich cultural experience from where Meadowcroft Wines originates. I proudly focus on a wide array of beautiful varietals, from our Cabernet Sauvignon which is grown on our estate vineyard property located on the esteemed Mount Veeder in Napa, to Bordeaux grapes scrupulously sourced from sustainable vineyards around Dry Creek, Carneros and Alexander Valley, I happily direct a global dialogue into my winemaking process. My hope is to create wines with a Sonoma pulse that express the complexity found in European varietals. I invite you to raise a glass of Meadowcroft and wish you bountiful gatherings and many happy toasts!

Cheers!
Tom Meadowcroft

Tom’s passion for wines stems from his experiences growing up, working and traveling in Europe and the United States. After earning his degrees, he worked in Napa and Washington State as a vineyard Manager focusing on sustainable farming and environmental advocacy. Throughout his career, Tom has managed dozens of properties for top wineries in Napa and Sonoma, all along instilling core principals relating to wine cultivation from the growing of wines to the making of the wines. Originally from New York, Andrew has lived and traveled extensively throughout the states and can easily say that the beauty and feeling of community in Sonoma is truly unrivaled. His past experience managing another winery, performing as an actor/singer, and working on Luxury Cruise ships has helped prepare him to be the Director of Wine Hospitality at Meadowcroft. The best part of his day is when he can help people have a great time and enjoy Meadowcroft’s delicious wines. His favorite wine right now is a toss-up between the Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon and the Anniversary Cuvee. The Anniversary Cuvee is perfect as soon as it’s cracked open, while the Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the most evolved wines he has ever tasted getting better with every sip!

Discover
Mount Veeder Vineyard

With over thirty-five years of experience in viticulture and winemaking, Tom Meadowcroft knows dirt. Or better yet, soil. He can easily judge what makes a vineyard great. He enjoys discovering farmers with small vineyards throughout California that are producing amazing grapes and interesting varieties. He’s quick to identify these little-known gems and produce extraordinary small production wines.

This experience led Tom to discover our estate vineyard on Mount Veerer in Napa.

Perched at 1,200 feet elevation with sedimentary clay and volcanic soils, Meadowcroft’s Mount Veeder Vineyard has extremely steep slopes and is typically above the fog line. This vineyard is known for producing vines with tiny berries with intense flavor concentration and soft tannins. The Mount Veeder AVA is the only hillside appellation in Napa Valley that adjoins the cool, bayside Carneros benefiting from the cool influence of San Pablo Bay.

In 1999, Tom Meadowcroft bought this Mount Veeder Vineyard in Napa. It took four years to bring the vineyard up to his standard. The vineyard now has produced numerous award winning vintages for Meadowcroft including the 2005 Mount Veeder Estate Cabernet Sauvignon which was named in the Top 100 Cellar Selections by Wine Enthusiast Magazine.
