St. Supéry Estate Vineyards and Winery is a 100% Estate Grown, sustainably farmed winery located in the renowned Rutherford growing region in the heart of Napa Valley. The winery focuses on its estate grown varietals; sauvignon blanc, cabernet sauvignon and red Bordeaux varieties. St. Supéry was founded by third-generation French vintner, Robert Skalli in 1982 when he purchased the Dollarhide Ranch. The Dollarhide Ranch, located high in the northeastern mountains of Napa Valley, is 1,531 acres with over 500 acres planted. Dollarhide is the primary source of St. Supéry’s distinctive estate sauvignon blanc and cabernet sauvignon. The winery, in Rutherford, has an additional 35 acres planted with cabernet sauvignon, merlot, cabernet franc and petit verdot. Since 2015, the winery is owned by CHANEL, Inc. and continues its mission of continuous quality improvement, while maintaining Napa Green Winery and Vineyard certifications to protect the environment for generations to come.

Certified Napa Green
Napa Green is a comprehensive environmental certification program for vineyards and wineries in the Napa Valley. St. Supéry Estate Vineyards and Winery achieved Napa Green Land certification in 2008 and Napa Green Winery designation in 2012. The program represents a soil-to-bottle approach to environmental stewardship and winemaking, integrating holistic management practices at every step of the process. Independent, third-party certification of farms and winemaking facilities makes Napa Green one of the most comprehensive environmental accreditations in the wine industry, requiring continual improvement for renewal.

Napa Green Land
Rutherford and Dollarhide are planted to cover crops between the vine rows, to harbor beneficial insects, compete with weeds, add essential nutrients to the soil and limit erosion. The leaf canopies and grape clusters are managed to host good bugs which prey on the bad guys, help eliminate the use of fungicides and regulate fruit exposure to the sun to obtain optimal flavors and color, and therefore better wine.
More than 100 bird boxes have been installed in both vineyards to encourage the habitation of Western bluebirds, which eat mosquitos and herbivorous insects such as the blue-green sharpshooter, a vector of vine-killing Pierce’s disease. Owl boxes host the nocturnal birds that gobble gophers and other critters that can damage the vines. At Dollarhide, a large rattlesnake population helps keep the burrowing pest population from munching on the vine roots.
At the winery, we create our own compost from a byproduct of the winemaking process. Pomace — seeds, skin and stems left over after crush — is trucked to Dollarhide and composted over the winter and eventually returned to the vineyard soil as fertilizer as an organic matter booster/soil builder.
