Rejoice, friends! Our Rosé is back, and we’re more excited than ever to present what’s truly levity-in-a-bottle. This 2019 Rosé is the best we’ve made in years. Like 2018, we had a wonderful benevolent vintage defined by cool, gradual ripening and a later harvest. The years where we get to hem and haw about when to pick the grapes are a treat for us, and even more so for the consumer, ultimately.

In this 2019 bottling our Rosé is comprised of nearly half Syrah, close quarters of Grenache and Carignan, then the same smidge of dry Riesling we’ve incorporated for years (for a little more twang and aromatic drive).

Our approach with Rosé is uncompromising; only fruit grown to be Rosé is used (never any juice bled off from riper red wine lots) and it’s whole-cluster pressed into neutral French oak barrels just like all of our white wines. This ensures a thirst slaking and food-friendly feel, but with the textural richness and integration that barrel aging provides.

Those who might still remember our ’17 and ’18 bottlings can expect a fusion of the best qualities of those two distinctly different Rosés. This vintage was much more like 2018, and it does show that citrusy thrust and terrific fragrance. Yet this 2019 weds that feeling with some of the textural roundedness and pink guava flavors of the 2017. Expect a punchy display of white cherry, tangerine and flowers, with subtle leesiness and tropicality. Just delicious!
