With the wave of renaissance Australian wine is currently enjoying Brad Hickey found himself in McLaren Vale capturing the zeitgeist. With years of wine experience in restaurants in New York, Brad Hickey created Brash Higgins with Nicole Thorpe. Much of the fruit for the reds comes of their own Omensetter vineyard, which was planted in 1997 and certified organic in 2017. Form this site, which is clay over limestone, they craft Shiraz, Cabernet and Nero d’Avola.

The wines offer a spectrum of styles, from conventional to full blown experimental. Not afraid to try new things (or old things) such as working with aromatic grapes such as Zibibbo and fermenting in clay vessels. The style is ever-evolving, and boundary pushing. The wines are very much at the forefront of the modern McLaren Vale.

A dry rosé crafted from the grapes of Cinsault and Carignan, who are usually found in the warmer parts of southern France. Complex on the nose with ripe mirabelle plum and pink lady apple, with hints of cherry blossom in the background. The palate is dry with snappy acidity and a lacy, long texture. Lots of fruit on the palate with peach and apples dominating. Great balance and a great drink.
