We make our way to the outskirts of San Antonio in Boerne for a retro burger joint and ice cream parlor serving up hand-dipped sundaes and nostalgia. At Soda Pops Patio Grill & Sugar Shack, it’s all about old school fun. While biting into a double beef burger loaded with bacon and dripping with cheese or slurping on a shake, check out at all the hot rods that line the streets on the weekend.
Next, we’ll visit a unique find in the Hill Country– Vaudeville Bistro in Fredericksburg! This renovated three-story Victorian landmark has everything imaginable under one roof: a gourmet marketplace, retail showroom, supper club, art gallery and wine store. After enjoying your French-inspired dishes like braised chicken with grilled zucchini, fresh garden greens and a lemon Dijon vinaigrette, peruse the shop for eclectic furniture, home décor, jewelry and more!
Then, we drive to H-town for pristine ocean-to-table fish at Bluewater Seafood. The owner’s family has a fleet of fishing boats that are plucking seafood fresh from the Gulf and bringing it straight to your table. Taste fresh catches like the crispy hand-breaded shrimp, garlic-buttery Dungeness crab and the very popular Pistolettes.
Don’t miss out on all of the action (and incredible H-E-B wines). Plus, a special visit with my friend, Executive Chef Doug Noxon, at Pecan Grill at the Overton Hotel & Conference Center in Lubbock.
